Grub Crawl 2000Philip MacKinnonPhilip MacKinnon Upcoming events like Shinerama & Grub Crawl are great ways to meet new people and experience Windsor social life. In an interview with SRC directors Adam Geml and Crystal Elschner I was able to learn more about these events. Continuing from last year the SRC is sponsoring SHINERAMA a fundraising activity that supports Cystic Fibrosis. Shinerama will take place from sep. 25th to the 28th and will include fundraising events such as the Grub Crawl, taping one of the SRC directors to the pole across from the SRC office and Tim Horton's, and shoe shines. All of the Shinerama events are free of cost however donation's will be accepted from the students who wish to participate as well as anyone who just wants to donate, all proceeds from the events go to the Cystic Fibrosis association. On September 28th the SRC is sponsoring the Grub Crawl as a finale to the Shinerama. The cost for the Grub Crawl will be a $15 donation to Shinerama. The ticket cost for the event includes transportation to all of the participating restaurants, as well as a Grub Crawl 2000 T-Shirt. The SRC has acquired the use of Cab's for after the event, be responsible if you drink don't drive. There will be local police at Griff's after the event to ensure that no intoxicated person drives when they should not be. Identification will be checked at the time you purchase your ticket's as well as at the restaurants, you must be 19 years or older to participate in the Grub Crawl. The event is open to all students, and is a good way to get to people both in and out of your programs. If you are a first year student, from out of town, or are just turning 19 this is a great way to experience local restaurants and bars. 90 tickets will be available for this event, and they are available in Griff's, the SRC office and from Adam Geml Director of the SRC Coordinator of Student Services. The schedule for Grub Crawl is as follows: * Griff's - Noon to 4:45 p.m. * Feelgoods - 5:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. * Rack n' Roll - 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. * Cookamunga's - 7:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. * Woody's - 8:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m . * Peepers - 9:00 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. * Patrick O'Ryan's - 10:00 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. * Griff's - 11:00 p.m. to 11:45 p.m. Stop in and see Adam if you have any question's concerning this event, he is available in the SRC office, his extension is 4525, or by e-mail at ageml@stclairc.on.ca. Events such as Heritage Week, October Fest, and a St. Clair College Appreciation Week, and the annual Halloween Party are in the planning stages. However due to the director shortage some events may have to be put on hold. Volunteers are needed and welcomed for all upcoming SRC events, if you are interested just stop in the SRC office and talk to any of the directors or the receptionist for more information. You may have asked yourself, what can I expect from an SRC event? the answer is fun, excitement, and a general good time. In the past there have been no problems at SRC events so let's try and keep it that way, the SRC is here to help the students so as students we should help them were we can. |
