Blessed with a graceful, swanlike beauty, Tal's philosophy of life is simple - "Have fun." Tal's perspective on life stems from her tough upbringing in Israel. Her childhood memories include the ear-splitting sounds of incoming artillery and funerals of friends killed in bombings. In fact, during the 1990 Gulf War, Tal composed her first song, a poignant ballad titled "Goodbye World." Tal says her experiences have given her an appreciation and respect for all cultures. "Though we all come from different countries and cultures, intrinsically we are all the same," the singer says. "That's what I like about i5. We get along so well, like a family. We want people to hear that in our music."
Though Tal cites Led Zeppelin, Lenny Kravitz, U2, Madonna and Celine Dion as influences, her biggest musical hero is the late Queen vocalist, Freddie Mercury. "I admire what he stood for, the way he sang and moved and the way he lived," Tal says. "I like people who do whatever they want and live life to the fullest. That's what Freddy did."
Born and bred in Tel Aviv, Tal was raised singing opera. She was admitted into Israel's Tinkerbell Children's Choir and at age seven, she performed with conductor Zubin Mehta and the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Ever curious, Tal broadened her musical palette by performing in her own rock band and listening to blues and jazz. In 1997, she moved to America to pursue her dreams of music stardom. Refusing to take money from her parents, she supported herself working construction jobs. Now, as a member of i5, Tal looks forward to sharing her irrepressible energy with the world. "We can be role models," Tal says. "We are a great example of unity."
