Who ARE you guys?
Glad you asked! The tall, skinny one you may have seen at shows is Brandon. He's 21, listens to all things punk (emo is not punk) and hates country music and places that play country music... he's also a bachelor, so ladies, send him your naked photos and stuff... his drinking "fun" will eventually become his "problem", but for now...
Armand is the fat, bald one that looks like Kerry King (hail SLAYER). He's 33 and an old man now who grew up in a time before CDs and Kazaa and the internet... he used to actually bootleg shows with a cassette recorder and released some cool actual paper zines in his day (like Black Moon Magazine, Carnifex, and TNT: Trash N Thrash). He is an old school Metalhead originally from New Jersey, but loves old school punk/hardcore like Black Flag, Minor Threat, DRI, AOD, Suicidal Tendencies, etc. Armand also thinks emo blows, so stop crying about everything.
What is FXZ?
A money-making bonanza! No, actually, it is a great way to show our interest in the punk/hardcore/metal scene. The goal is to have the greatest webzine devoted to music, with band interviews, reviews, show reviews, etc. etc. Don't let the name fool you (at least, the Florida part), we are trying to encompass the entire scene, worldwide.
What do you need from me?
If you're a band, we need a couple of things... we need you to fill out the Ten Quick Questions (TQQ) so we can promote you on the site, and we need a press kit to review you... if you're playing anywhere in the central Florida area, we'd like to check out and review your live show, too. For record labels: we'd like to be added to your mailing lists for promo kits so we can review your latest music... we are also looking for zines to review, videos to review, comic books to review, books to review, anything and everything to review. Just send it to our address on the main page and we'll get right back to you once it is reviewed and/or listed. We'd like to trade links with cool sites, too. And Brandon wants those naked photos sent, too.
What are you NOT looking for?
We both hate country music with a passion. Emo is boring, but an occasional interview will slip through. Pop punk is such a generic term these days it's sick, so we like to listen to the band first to see if they even fit with what we are doing. Soulful ballad CDs from chicks rarely get reviews (unless she's really hot... just kidding, uh, kinda). Put it this way: Brandon is into straight punk stuff and mixes in the hardcore, while Armand is into the metal and mixes in the hardcore. Oh, and if you have a DJ and/or a rapper on your demo, don't waste postage because we will trash it. Nu metal blows, too. Do we make ourselves clear?
What can we also expect in the future?
So much to do, so little time... we have quite a few ideas we are currently playing around with, including putting out a CD compilation of Florida bands in the future, Brandon doing work with band's with his photography, promoting bands ourselves and putting shows together, and getting some cool merchandise out there to sell like T-shirts and those pesky stickers.
