St. Patrick Day 2007

"Floss 'N Gloss" was in its seventh strait year of participation in the St. Patrick Day Parade in Muncie, Indiana. The parade started at Muncie Central High School parking lot and traveled south about eight blocks and then made a loop and returned to the parking lot. There were 5000+ people lining the streets in the downtown area.
This years parade was on March 17, 2007. It was scheduled on the actual holiday this year because it fell on Sat for the first time in many years and started at 5pm this year(a much later starting time than in the past) which allowed most families the experience of the fesitivties.
There was scheduled to be at one point sixteen vehicles in the parade, and in the last week of preparations there was a few members who had to miss the parade due to work or needed work on their vehicle(s). Even on the day of the parade there are aways last minute problems that need to be worked out and so the end result was a much impoved number over previous years. Participation from members in the club and friends of the club grew quite a bit for this year and was represented in FNG portion of the parade.
Back in 2001, the only representation of the club was via Roy Davis(President) and Jason Carper (Vice President) who were in Roy's Camaro.
The turnout had increased all the way to 6 vehicles for three strait years and a total of fifteen people in the vehicles, but alot of major probs came up last minute for our group. After prvious last minute problems the idea was brought up to cancel intirely, but instead we felt it was important to continue our tradition of putting out the best show that "Floss 'N Gloss" has to offer! And something is always better than nothing.
This year the parade was due to start at 5pm, so Roy Davis(President) arived early. The lineup was scheduled to start at 4pm and he wanted to make sure everyone was in their proper places.
This years parade had quite a few people involved and participating either through display of their vehicles or via cheering, waving, smiling, and tossing candy and paper airplane advertisements(an idea developed by Ervin Davis from the Morningside/McCormick Crime Watch) to the crowd.
First was Roy Davis(President) and his 1995 Teal Camaro with Brock Corbin riding shotgun. Second in line was Steven Cummins riding in Brian Norris' OffRoad Style Chevy Truck. Third Dennis Mason driving Cinthia Avery in his Dodge Viper. Fourth was James "Rascal" Nixon(member) in a 1930 Ford. Next up was Jim Avery and Garrett Howe in Jim's Dodge Viper. Then we had Jeremy Ward and his wife Shanna in his Lowrider Cutlass. and we finished off our group with Adam Wright(member) with his cousin riding shotgun in his 1996 Sonoma.
Braging rights...."FNG" was AGAIN the only car club in representation at the parade. That made it SEVEN strait years in a row that "Floss 'N Gloss" was the only car club in representation.
"FNG" has grown considerably in the last few years and this year was the largest turnout in the clubs history. And we plan to be even larger in 2008. Keep an eye out for the us...you will be surprised in our progress.
After the parade was over, we went to Fazoli's and got something to eat. They were nice enough to provide free drink to all of our members that decided to hang out there.
A big THANK YOU goes to Ervin Davis and the Morningside Crime Watch who funded a great deal for the parade. The managers at Fazoli's(Primarily the General Manager-Rob Murphy) who agreed to give everyone in our group a free drink. Also, Roys family, all of the "FNG" members as well as everyone else who participated in, supported, and helped make the St. Patrick Day Parade what it was.....THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
