Sometime in the early fall of 1998, Randy Gurtler and Evan Jernigan formed what would become enzime. Evan and Randy got together after becoming friends in the band Alpha Omega. Jamming mostly after school, they learned and played mostly covers. Ond day they tossed around some names, enzime was suggested but never really confirmed.

Evan knew that Robbie played drums and he shortly joined there after. It wasn't until cleaning out Evan's garage, for bigger practice space, that Chan joined on guitar. Finally the band was almost complete, with the exception of a singer. After learning and playing many songs, enzime began writing there own. Unfortunatly, finding a singer was somthing that never came about. When the bands drummer, Robbie, left for the east coast. Mario Hernandez filled the spot. When Robbie returned, the band recorded thier first record. The disc was a 3 song demo cd. It was never titled.

By the end of the summer of 1999, Evan and Robbie would quit the band for college.

Upset with the loss, Chan and Randy asked Robbie's cousin to play drums. When Sam showed up to play, he brought all of his friends. One of those friends was named Josh Hutcheson. When Chan's dad came to see the new drummer he also saw Josh messing around with the microphone. "looks like you found a singer too" Chan's dad said. From then on the band was finally complete.

Enzime started writing songs from the start and the 3 that they had grew to 11 in a matter of a few months. In Feb. 2000 enzime recorded thier first full lenght record. It was titled "ben mcgee" and they sold out the first set of copies they had. Writing more songs and playing several shows they gathered a small following in there area. At one show, charging just $1.00 at the door, they sold out making well over $110.00 that night. That same night a club owner from Pheonix came down to see them play. It seemed everything was falling into place for the band. Having a chance to play with Critikul at a club in Pheonix, the band came to an end. Chan got saved and quit the band. The moral of the story, don't go to Aquire the Fire. Randy has since pushed on trying keep a band together. Hopefully everything will work out for the best this time. Hopfully
