Terminator 2 - Judgement Day

The long awaited sequel to 1984's The Terminator. This film saw original cast members Linda Hamilton ( Sarah) and Arnold Schwarzeneger as the Terminator.

Except in this film Arnie was the good guy and there was a new improved Terminator the T-1000 (Robert Patrick). The target was different in this film too. Instead of Sarah herself the second Terminator was sent to kill Sarah's son John the Future Leader of the Human resistance against the machines.

The casting of John Connor was a difficult process. James Cameron the film's director was insistent that the hectic schedule of filming required a seasoned actor. However all the auditionees were too polished- John Connor needed to be streetwise.

Mali Finn the film's casting officer visited local boys clubs to find young boys who fitted the criteria.

It was in the Pasadena Boy's club that a five foot nothing kid scowled at her. It was Eddie Furlong and Mali thought he was perfect for the role.

Eddie had never acted before. " I carried a box on stage in a school play once" he recalled later. So when Mali Finn approached him he "thought she was a pervert or something".

But Eddie agreed to go for auditions. At those auditions however Eddie froze up. Cameron's worst fears had been realised. Mali fought to keep him though and at Edward's second audition, he came out of his shell a bit more and started to interact with Linda Hamilton.

Edward undertook physical training and acting lessons for his part
