Background:
Emma was born in Florida. Her mother disappeared one day
when
she was 6 years old. As the youngest
in her family she felt left out often, and as if she had to try extra
hard
to be a people pleaser. Her older brother James
Jr. left the house to go to college when she was just 9 years old. Her
father pre-occupied himself with work, James was
his pride because he was the boy, and sure to take over the company one
day.
And everyone loved Natalie, she was
beautiful, a cheerleader, outgoing and very popular. Emma felt
left-out, and
like she would do anything for her father's
love and attention.
Her father never talked to her and when he did, he
would
criticize her. The only place she felt right
was when she was writing. It seemed to her as if she was never good
enough,plus she knew she wasn't like other girls...because she had a
feeling
she liked both boys and girls. She became a perfectionist. She
developed
anorexia when she was 13. She She spent her 14th birthday in the
hospital
because she had gotten down to 60 pounds. They let her go when she got
up to
80. All her father did was lecture her, he didn't understand. She began
cutting herself, and shutting the world out. People thought she was
stuck up
because she didn't talk much, she was always afraid she'd get
yelled at like at home, or even hit.
When she was 15 she got a
boyfriend,
who treated her like shit...but she thought she
loved him. He would tell her she was useless, nothing without
him...even
that she was fat and ugly. They were together for
3 years. By this time she was already 5'2" and she weighed 95 lbs,
which was
5 more than the limit he had set for her. He
beat her up, and broke up with her, calling her a fat pig.
She believed
him.
She relapsed, and got down to 72 and she was
in the hospital just in time for her high-school graduation. She spent
the
entire summer in the hospital. She was released
at 85, but they suggested she put on a few pounds. She went to a
nutritionist. Her ED is gone for now, she has pretty
good control over herself. She recently decided to leave home, and
transferred to Dumont as a Junior. She wants to get
away from her past and make it on her own.
She's very self-conscious
and
shy, but when people get through to her she's
very nice and loveable. She doesn't trust guys, she's never had a
girlfriend, and she's afraid of relationships, but she likes
both. She is now a member of Dumonts Gay/straight alliance.She wants to
start a whole new life, and hates thinking of the past.
