Roster of the Richmond Fayette Artillery

Battery "B", 38th Battalion Virginia Light Artillery

A Note Regarding the Rosters

The rosters are taken from the military records of the companies, and available birth, marriage, death, and postwar dates and activities; abbreviations have been used occasionally. As far as the actual military records are concerned, all information has been copied with the exception of pay information. Sometimes it will be noted within the rosters that a veteran may have no more record than "enl. 3/15/62, present through 2/28/65." This usually will indicate that either there was no more information provided between those dates or simply that nothing of particular note occurred (e.g. sickness, hospitalization, wounds, etc.). Sometimes in the rosters lack of information is reduced by the fact that clothing was issued by the company, thus showing that an artillerist had returned.

The dates given in parentheses indicates that the actual date of an event was not given, but show when the event was next recorded.
