Ever wondered how bad fashions spread so quick? It's simple... it's the sheep mentality. You've probably heard this sort of thinking before, described as 'peer group pressure'.

People at this level of thinking excuse their behavoiur by saying they do it 'Just to fit in' because 'everyone else is doing it'.

What a load of crap!!!

People do it because they're too shallow and stupid. Too stupid to think for themselves. Too shallow to have their own opinion, or to care about anything aside from what others think of them. And the fact is that these morons are pliable and manipulatable as hell!

Are you a cool kid? Or a goth? Or a freak? Or a jock? Or a nerd? Or a trekkie? Or a natio? Or a hippie? Or in a similarly labelled clique? And is everyone in your clique under a similar label? And do you blindly follow the trends of your group? If you said yes to any or all of these, YOU ARE A LEMMING! And I personally doubt you are capable of an independent moral thought.

Actually, no, I'd go even further.

Assuming you DO think at all, I personally doubt that you could come up with a thought EITHER without your social group, OR taking what they would think or say into consideration. And choosing to do something moral that would not benefit yourself, your friends, or your *standing* with your friends would be totally beyond you. Seriously, I've met some people like you who I doubt could do it even if they had a gun to the back of their heads. Think you're any different?

Here's an old cliche, but it's relevant here...
...actually, knowing people like you, you'd probably make sure that you jumped head first into a shallow rock pool. Now that will really impress your friends!

And if you've graduated from high school and are still stuck in this mindset, you are truely a sad and pathetic individual! Then again, you'll never have to worry about doing something drastic like, I don't know, using your brain, because there are (unfortunately) many others like you out there! And hey, you always have TV to think for you!

People like these are the reason why we get Fred Durst, Christina Auguelira, Brittany Spears, the Spice Girls, Madonna, the Backstreet Boys, and all that talentless mass produced crap polluting our airwaves; instead of more talented performers like Marty Freidman. These are the kinds of people who wore mullets and / or makeup (it was cool at the time, I mean Kiss, Twisted Sister and Poison did it!) even though they were straight guys. Same with any number of other tasteless, tacky fashions.

As adults, they get swung by "Opinion Polls" and the logical fallacy of "Common man on the street". They are the mental equivelent of a renovator's delight... not much upstairs, but what's there is incredibly pliable. So easily swung by P.R.opoganda it's not funny!

"It's on TV, so it must be true!" *BANG*

Worse still, a lot of the lemmings reading this have probably gotten to this point and not realised that I am talking about them! Because they believe that by getting short pink hair, tatooos, and the like they show their 'individuality'. Of course, doing (or likeing) something because everyone else does isn't exactly showing your individuality... but it is showing your personality! Why, that Celtic cross or those kanji letters on their arms make a really bold statement...

Where things really start getting nasty with these idiots is when you don't fit in, or challenge their status quo. Then again, most lemmings don't have the will power, the self esteem, or the self respect to stand up to the group. This is why those "Just say No" campaigns never work!

And the sad, scary thing is I haven't begun to even scratch the surface of the idiocy of these shallow, fashion conscious lemmings!
