"History of Lawrence, Orange and Washington Co.'s, Indiana" Goodspeed Bros. and Co., 1884 WESLEY ROUT, a native of Spice Valley Township, Lawrence County, Ind., was born November 28, 1828, and is the oldest in the following named family of children: Wesley, John, Robert, Lycurgus, Clarissa, Nancy, Henry, Samuel R. and Louis. The parents, Louis and Sarah (Bryant) Rout, were both natives of the Blue Grass State, their respective births occurring December 22, 1801 and in 1811. They immigrated to the Hoosier State in 1827, where they passed the remainder of their days. Wesley Rout is descended from an old and honored Scottish family, his grandfather, John Rout, removing from the Shenandoah Valley, Va., to Kentucky in 1772, and redeeming that State from the hands of the savages. He was reared and educated in his native county; selected farming as his occupation, and now owns 160 acres of nicely improved property. He is a Democrat, a member of Bryantsville Lodge, No. 160, A.F. & A.M., and was married December 15, 1857, to Miss Louisa Williams, daughter of Dickson Williams, by whom he is father of twelve children, viz.: Minnie, Gertrude, Eldridge, Ida, Gelon, Virgil, Charles, James, Nellie, Franklin, Peachy and Walter.
