Class Features

All of the following are Class Features of the pearl maid prestige class.

Code of Conduct: A pearl maid must be of nonlawful alignment and loses all class abilities and benefits if she ever changes or violates her alignment, or strays from devotion to the Mother of Pearl.

Associates: While she may adventure with characters of any alignment, a pearl maid will never knowingly associate with those who promote asceticism, nor will she continue an association with someone who consistently offends her moral code. A pearl maid may accept only henchmen, followers, or cohorts who are nonlawful.

Ex-pearl maids

A pearl maid who ceases to be nonlawful or strays from devotion to the Mother of Pearl loses all pearl maid spells, abilities, and class features.  She may not progress any farther in levels as a pearl maid.

Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Pearl maids gain proficiency with the trident and net.  Pearl maids gain no armor proficiency.

Spells per Day: When a new pearl maid level is gained, the character gains new spells per day as if she had also gained a level in a spellcasting class he belonged to before adding the prestige class. She does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained, except for an increased effective level of spellcasting. If a character had more than one spellcasting class before becoming an pearl maid, she must decide to which class she adds the new level for purposes of determining spells per day.

Pearl Growth (Su): Upon becoming a pearl maid, the character permanently loses the ability to produce normal offspring.  Instead, any successful fertilization results in a pearl growth.  The pregnancy lasts 1 day for every month a normal pregnancy for the race would last.  The pearl growth is a delicate, egg-shaped mass 3/4 the size of a normal baby.  Within a week of birth, exposure to air causes it to shrink and harden into a pearl.  1% of pearl growths become pearls of power.  The Mother of Pearl actively encourages her pearl maids to produce as many pearls as they can, and demands that they produce at least one per month as part of their duties.

Nonlethal Sneak Attack (Ex): The pearl maid's sneak attack may only be used to deal nonlethal damage.  It is otherwise like the rogue ability of the same name. The extra damage dealt increases by +1d6 every other level (2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, and 10th). If a pearl maid gets a sneak attack bonus from another source the bonuses on damage stack, with the pearl maid's bonuses dealing nonlethal damage and the other bonuses dealing damage as normal.

Gift of the Pearl: At level 3 and every 2 levels thereafter, a pearl maid gains one ability from the list below.  Note that "level" here refers to pearl maid class level unless otherwise specified.

Flawless Sheen (Ex): The pearl maid gains universal energy resistance (as per the ring) 1 point per level.

Luminous (Su): The pearl maid gains spell resistance equal to her level plus her Charisma modifier.

Lustre (Ex): Each time the pearl maid gains a point in any ability score, her Charisma also increases by one.  The pearl maid gains an additional bonus of +1 per level to all Charisma-based checks applied to individuals of compatible races (outsider, humanoid, monstrous humanoid, and fey if humanoid.)

Body of Pearl (Ex): The pearl maid is immune to all disease, including magical or supernatural diseases.  She is not in danger of dying from massive damage or ability damage (penalties still apply).

Unearthly Grace (Su): A pearl maid adds her Charisma modifier as a bonus on all saving throws, and as a deflection bonus to her Armor Class.  This bonus only applies if she is not wearing armor, encumbered, or similarly hindered.  Objects made primarily of pearl do not hinder the pearl made.  If a pearl maid already has unearthly grace, the benefits do not stack.
