Meeting and Tournament

Meeting

The group met, and various members ran errands in town regarding purchasing.  Resdin reported that he had been told a story of a dungeon called the Lair of Shadows by locals.  Within it an ancient evil lay, and he had been tasked with retrieving an egg from there.  Any other loot could be claimed by the group.  Luthor reported that the Duke had given him a map and information on a dungeon where the lost relics of the knight Theopold were hidden, taken by evil forces.

Happily for the group, these two destinations were in approximately the same area, so they voted to tackle both dungeons.  It was repeated that the group would leave in two days, and then everyone dispersed to take care of business, both personal and professional.

Everyone received 100 exp for participating.

Tournament (Non-continuity)

Rendan, Luthor, and Camthalion, bored, decided to have a tournament of sorts.  In the first round, the half-giant cleric faced off against the half-elf ranger.  While the ranger made a brave attempt, fortune was not with him, and he was laid low by a couple of massive blows from the half-giant.  The next round saw Rendan facing off against his fellow devotee of Cuthbert.  Battle was fierce, and several times it was nearly decided.  Taking a considerable risk, Rendan healed himself in mid-combat, provoking an attack of opportunity that missed him.  Luthor declined to do the same.  In the end, both clerics were at the ends of their respective ropes, but it was Rendan who emerged victorious.

Rendan, as the victor, claimed the right to challenge Grashak in single combat.  The terms were thus: parties started 100' away from each other; Rendan had one free round of actions first, and Grashak's bonuses would not be shown to preserve balance.  (No one other than the combatant Rendan himself saw a live transcript of the fight.)  Only the results of Grashak's rolls were seen.  The two opponents came to a grassy plain, where they faced off.  Rendan declared that he would smite the goblin for justice in the name of St. Cuthbert, whereas the goblin offered a less erudite but equally heated reply.

Unfortunately, combat was quick, as the goblin coolly waited for the cleric to approach him, then rushed in and dispatched him with a single stroke.

No exp was awarded for this non-continuity episode (but see above).
