The group discovered in the morning that Resdin and Aerlene were gone.  Terenar realized that he had a note from the wizard, which did little to assuage the feelings of the bewildered and angry party members.  The Keels, deciding that things were going downhill, left in a hurry for the safety of town, while Asherha, Camthalion, and Terenar remained within range of the campsite should Resdin return.  While there, they hid and observed the passing of a bleary-eyed goblin patrol.

Meanwhile, the Keels noted new goblin activity at the southern stockade in the forest, including archers manning the guard tower.  They wisely steered clear of this and snuck through the forest, arriving in town without further incident.  Once in town, they encountered Resdin and Rendan, the follower of St Cuthbert.  Displeased at being ordered around and then deserted, Graylyne lashed out unexpectedly at Resdin, landing a punch to the face.  The mage did not retaliate, though his displeasure was obvious to all those present.  Following an exchange of words, the Keels left to find lodging.

Meanwhile, Resdin saw a familiar face - the merchant who had employed him not long ago to deliver a message.  After attempting to charm the man with a newly acquired spell, he was told that many things were forgivable, but only once, and that he should refrain from any such attempts in the future.  After a tense exchange of offer and counter-offer, a deal was made.  The merchant agreed to divulge all his knowledge about the plans of the necromancer, even offering to call the local priest and be subjected to detect lies.  In return, Resdin agreed to retrieve an item for him in the future.  Precisely what information was gained, only Resdin and Rendan, who was present, know.
