ERRUN

Erruni are a mysterious, magical race believed to be unique to Mori.  They are widely held to be of fey descent, and indeed appear to be blue-skinned fey, with many of the fine features that fey often have.  Their skin tone varies from an almost whitish pale blue to a deep, dark blue, with paler erruni often becoming darker when under the influence of strong emotions.  Despite occasionally being confused with elves, erruni are both physically and culturally different from elves in many significant ways.  In general, erruni weigh more than elves, and are usually not as slender as the fair race.  Erruni also show no particular aptitude with regard to feats of dexterity, and no particular tendency to wizardry or swordsmanship.

Erruni choose their leaders based not on martial prowess, as most barbaric and monstrous humanoid cultures do, or on diplomatic and oratory prowess, as most demihuman cultures do, but instead on the basis of who seems to be most capable of maximizing the pleasure of others.  In short, they believe those most qualified for leadership are those who know how to have the most fun, and know how to help others have the most fun.  Rather than emphasizing a closeness with nature, erruni culture emphasizes the theme of perception and enjoyment.  An errun is at home not in the serenity of the forests, but rather in the hustle and bustle of the largest cities. Overall, this frivolous attitude is disheartening to many of the members of the more serious races, particularly the aforementioned elves, and dwarves, who view them as chaotic hedonists.

Almost all Erruni encountered out of their homeland are female.  No explanation has ever been given for this, although scholars have noted that the descendants of female Erruni always seem to be Erruni themselves.

The Erruni have a reputation throughout Mori for being good-hearted but unreliable.  A few fringe groups accuse the Erruni of unspeakable horrors committed in the name of furthering their own pleasure, including kidnapping, theft, and the slaughter of entire villages.  Most people view these rumors as myths with no real basis.
