A cancroloth stands about 14 feet tall. Its skin is usually dark blue, covered with a sheen of clear fluid. It weighs about 5,000 pounds.
Cancroloths do battle by liberally using teleportation and spell-like effects. Rather than exulting in chaos or destruction, a cancroloth's primary motivation is its own profit. It will not hesitate to simply leave a battle if it does not appear that it can win, or profit further.
A cancroloth’s natural weapons, as well as any weapons it wields, are treated as evil-aligned for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction.
At will— blasphemy, energy drain (DC 29), entropic shield, foresight, greater dispel magic, greater teleport (self plus 50 pounds of objects only), power word kill, power word stun, telekinesis (DC 25), unholy aura (DC 28); 1/day—regenerate, shapechange. Caster level 22nd. The save DCs are Charisma-based.
Every cancroloth carries a +1 keen adamantine frost brand greatsword that looks entirely unremarkable. A cancroloth’s greatsword is a large, incredibly heavy weapon with a razor-sharp edge that never dulls, but it appears to be an ordinary greatsword in all respects, unless viewed with true seeing or other powerful divinations. Due to the unique fighting style a cancroloth employs, the weapon deals bludgeoning as well as slashing damage. A cancroloth is bonded to its sword, always knowing its location and status, and the true name of its current wielder. If the sword is destroyed, the cancroloth must take a year and a day to bond with another.
In the hands of a non-cancroloth, the sword functions as a large +1 adamantine greatsword.
Once per day a cancroloth can automatically summon one other cancroloth, or 4d6 lesser yugoloths. This ability is the equivalent of a 9th-level spell.
The body of a cancroloth exudes powerful acids, which coat its body and form a glossy sheen.
Anyone attempting to bull rush or grapple a cancroloth takes 5d6 points of acid damage each round, and 3d6 points of residual acid damage for a number of rounds afterwards equal to the number of rounds spent grappling. Anyone who makes a successful melee attack against a cancroloth is sprayed by acid, and takes 3d6 points of acid damage per attack.
Cancroloths have a continuous true seeing ability, as the spell (caster level 22nd).
Cancroloths have a +8 racial bonus on Listen and Spot checks.
The cancroloth is most effective as a ranged combatant, using its spell-like abilities to attack from a distance.
Once the party has been relieved of all its held items, the cancroloth will either begin to use full attack actions on stunned foes if it wishes to kill them, or simply leave, satisfied with its take.
If its tactics do not appear to be working against a party, a cancroloth considers either leaving, or using its shapechange ability to assume a more optimal form.
