This one got generated, as many of my stories do, from a mental exercise while riding in the car. What scene in my fandom does this illustrate? The song in question was "Someday" by Nickelback, and I could see it. After Voldemort, marrying, and being celebrities. But the awfulness of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, in a world in which they give you chocolate and a pat on the head and think that makes it okay. It also recieved some help from Michelle Branch's song, "Are You Happy Now?" and my own memories of living with a man with PTSD. Although the marriage is now sound, there was a point where I was reckoning up both sides of the equation, just like Ginny.

I tried very hard to make it as G as possible, but it really wanted to have the scenes of physical touch and intimacy in there, to contrast with the distance they had later, and the way that as she dealt with things she would be reminded of happier days. I don't think it's that bad, although probably it will require an R rating if published elsewhere. But it's mild stuff, really.

Anyway, as always, here's the song lyrics to both songs.

Someday
by Nickelback
from the album "The Long Road"

How the hell did we wind up like this?
Why weren’t we able?
To see the signs that we missed
try to turn the tables.
I wish you would unclench your fists,
And unpack your suitcase
lately theres been to much of this
but don’t think its too late

Chorus:
nothings wrong
just as long
as you know that someday I will
someday
some how
gonna make it all right, but not right now
I know you’re wondering when
you’re the only one that knows that
someday
some how
gonna make it alright, but not right now
I know you’re wondering when

well I’d hope that since we’re here anyway
we can end up saying
things that we always needed to say
so we can end up staying
now the stories played out like this
just like a paperback novel
lets re-write an ending that fits
instead of a hollywood horror

Chorus

you’re the only one that knows that

How the hell did we wind up like this?
Why weren’t we able?
To see the signs that we missed
try to turn the tables.
Now the stories played out like this
just like a paperback novel
lets re-write an ending that fits
instead of a hollywood horror
nothings wrong
just as long

Chorus

I know you’re wondering when
you’re the only one that knows that
I know you’re wondering when
you’re the only one that knows that
I know you’re wondering when

"Are You Happy Now?"
by Michelle Branch
from the album "Hotel Paper"

Now
Don't just walk away
Pretending everything's okay
And you don't care about me
And I
Know it's just no use
When all your lies become your truths
And I
Don't care, Yeah yeah yeah
Chorus
Could you look me in the eye
And tell me that you're happy now (oooh)
Would you tell it to my face
Or have I been replaced?
Are you happy now?
Are you happy now?
Took all there was to take
And left me with the empty plate
And you don't care about it
And I
Am giving up this game
And leaving you with all the blame
Cuz I don't care

Chorus
Are you happy now?
Are you happy now?
Are you happy now?
Yeah, yeah
Do you really have everything you want?
You could never give something you've not got
You can't run away from yourself
Yeah
Could you look me in the eye
And tell me that you're happy now, yeah yeah
Come on, tell it to my face
Have I been replaced?
Are you happy now?
Are you happy now?
Are you happy now?

Would you look me in the eye?
Could you look me in the eye?
I've had all that I can take
And I'm about about to break cuz you're happy now
Are you happy now?
