Favorite memory growing up: just one? wow.....there are so many....
eating Ice cream in the front yard on Madison street with Mom watching us play, Burdette Swimming and picnics every summer, trips to the drive-in with our lunchmeat sandwiches, singing in the dining room on Emmett St.
Favorite thing about our family: Christmas
Favorite memory with Meemaw: Hot night in the shaggy white house. We were in our beds sleeping, you came in to check on us (just like on TV!), gently kissed my forehead (I was pretending to be asleep) and moved on to the next bed. The ultimate example of motherhood.
Message to meemaw: Mom, your example through the years was for us to keep on keeping on, no matter how hard things were, or how bleek things seemed. You kept on, and kept a smile on your face in front of us kids. That is what I remember, not the hardships, not what we didn't have, I remember what we DID have, and that was a mother who was devoted to the mental and physical well-being of her children at any cost to herself. Your love and devotion to all of us is what gave us the survival instinct we all carry today.
Thanks for the example of motherhood you so lovingly, sacrificially gave to us. I love you more than you know.
