Poly shield Install

This product has been road tested

Important: Test fit before installation--Be sure cover clears center stand.

To make the Polycarbonate coolant tank shield, I used .117" (1/8")
polycarbonate window material.
The dimentions are:

On theLENGTH ( 7" ) side, make the first 90° bend at 2".
Measure out 3 3/4" and make the next 90° bend.
This should give you measurements of 2", 3 3/4" and 1 1/4".
As an option, you could make the length 5 3/4" and leave off the bend at the back.

To attach the shield, clean the tank and shield thoroughly with soap, water and rubbing alcohol. Dry completely.
Use a high quality double sided automotive trim tape. Don't use cheap stuff.
I used four strips of tape along the bottom and one on the front.
Now, how do you bend it?
It is possible to use a small torch to heat and bend it,
but use low heat so as not to blister the polycarbonate. Practice on some scrap.
Use a hand break, like the ones used to bend sheet metal, guttering and flashing.
If you don't have access to a hand break,
take it to a local sheetmetal or plastic fabricating shop and have them bend it. It will bend.
If you don't have a shop like that near you,
try a gutter or window installation business, hardware store or look in the
Yellow Pages under fabricating or something similar. I work in a metal stamping
factory so I have access to the tools. Ask a friend at work if all else fails.
Good luck and ride on!
