The top of the Chevy II line continued to be the one-model Nova Super Sport Series, which consisted solely of the 2-door hardtop, Model 11837. The car cost $2,592 and weighed 2,820 pounds with the basic Six. It used its own exclusive wheel covers with the Tri-bar pattern, a black accented grille, and special rocker and wheelhouse mouldings. Unlike the Chevelle Super Sport, this model continued to use front bucket seats and center console, equipped with shifter when either Powerglide or the 4-speed transmission ws ordered. The interior was all-vinyl with a special-pattern vinyl headliner. Production of this model was 10,100, with only 1,900 having 6-cylinder engines.
A checkered deck-lid applique, bright rocker covering, and color-keyed vinyl beltline moulding quickly set off the Nova Series cars from the Chevy II 100 Series. Both Series consisted of three models, a station wagon, a 4-door sedan, and a 2-door. However, in the Nova Series the 2-door was the same hardtop sport coupe as found in the Nova Super Sport Series, while in the 100 Series, the car was a pillared model. The Nova 2-door was the Model 11637, which cost $2,435 and weighed 2,790 pounds. The 4-door sedan was identical to the 100 variety, except that it used the Nova exterior trim. It was the Model 11669, which cost $2,403 and weighed 2,790 pounds.
The 100 Series continued to be the economy category of the Chevy II line. It consisted of three models, a station wagon, and 4-door sedan that were shared with the Nova Series, and its own exclusive 2-door sedan of the pillared variety. The cars lacked the vinyl bright side trim of the Nova Series, but the embossed metal beltline design served to break up the otherwise severe look found on the trimless cars. The 4-door Sedan, Model 11469 cost $2,287 and weighed 2,780 pounds. The 2-door Sedan was the Model 11411, which weighed 2,770 pounds and cost $2,258 making it the least expensive and lightest car of the Chevy II's. Between the two sedans, production reached 35,900, of which only 480 contained the 4-cylinder engine that was considered the base power plant.
The Chevy II economy wagon was found in the Series 100, but unlike the car models in that series, it was available only with the base Six or the optional Six or V8 engines. The 4-cylinder engine was reserved only for the car models, and even in these models, was seldom seen. Designated the Model 11435, the Chevy II wagon cost $2,583 and weighed 2,985 pounds. Available in 6-passenger form only, it had a folding rear seat for extended cargo carrying, and an all-vinyl interior. Between the Series 100 and the Nova units a total of 12,900 Chevy II wagons were built this year, with approximately 10,000 of them having 6-cylinder engines.
The most expensive and the heaviest style in the Chevy II line was the Nova Station Wagon, Model 11635, which cost $2,671 and weighed 3,015 pounds. It was the only Chevy II to weigh more than 1 1/2 tons. The Chevy II Nova Series did not have the 4-cylinder engine, but used the 194 cubic inch Six as its basic power, with the 250 cubic inch model or the 327 cubic inch V8 of 275 horsepower being popular options. All Chevy II wagons had all-vinyl interiors. Wheel covers were not standard on any Chevy II models, but were available for an extra $21.
