• Material of the synoptics is largely omitted down to the Passion. (feeding the Five Thousand - exception)
• Prevailing use of words belonging to later experiences fo Christianity, such as,

  • love Mt 2; Mk 6; Lk 2; Jn 11
  • God as Father
  • eternal life Mt 2; Mk 2; Lk 2; Jn 9

• Nature of the discourses which touch the profaoundest truths of revelation, such as,
  • new birth John 3
  • living water John 4
  • Christ's equality with God. John 5
  • living bread John 6
  • Good Shepherd John 10
  • farewell discourses (13-17)
