Making A Difference

The most important thing I have learned from David's death is life is finite. We do not control our world. You can call it fate, destiny, karma, God's will or anything else you want to call it. But trying to describe and place a label on why things happen the way they do surpasses all words and human comprehension.

I have also learned to have more compassion, and unconditional love. A mother's love never dies, and her children are always her children whether they are alive with us or heavenly angels. I want to give more of myself, because it makes me feel better. I give in David's memory to help other's who have recently had a stillbirth, infant death or pregnancy loss.

I contacted Senator Connie Lawson to draft a bill here in Indiana to issue a birth certificate to all families who give birth, not just to parents of live children. In fact, it was passed in the spring of 2002 and enacted on July 1, 2002. If you would like more information on making a difference in your state, please visit the Mothers In Sympathy and Support website. The bill in Arizona was called the "Missing Angels Bill," and was the first state to pass stillbirth legislation in March 2001. Other states have heard our voices and have either passed the bill or have it in their legislatures. It is our fondest hope to pass this bill in every state to acknowledge the existence of our stillborn children.
