[In a dark room Heero sits at a table with his laptop in front of him and the screen flickering green on his face. On the screen a single message flashes: "Relena Peacecraft is on her way to the Safehouse". Heero sighs and flips off his laptop and closes his eyes. as the darkness closes in on him, visions of the "Queen of the World" suddenly pass in front of his eyes.]

[Heero opens his eyes and stares off into the dark through the window behind him.]

[He knows what she's trying to do, her childish fantasy of him being sustained by the mystery he shrouds himself in.]

[Heero sighs and thinks of all the times she's showed up just in time to botch something up... and all the people on the earth, and in the colonies, who look up to her.]

[He remembers the power she holds]

[Heero puts his hand to the window and scowls, seeing the dark night around him tainted with the city lights in the distance. He won't let her........]

[He shudders at the memory of his unconscious body in her arms]

[He looks down at his own hands, feeling the weight of the blood he has shed willingly]

/o suddenly I know
[He hangs his head and wraps his arms around his shoulders, wanting to suffocate the guilt rising up from his gut as the scene of the World Federation plane blowing up plays over and over in his mind]

[Heero begins to feel as if the memories and the guilt are suffocating him]

[He puts a hand over his eyes as if he could shut the darkness out]

[Heero suddenly turns on a lamp and the room he is in is illuminated. A cozy room that looks lived in, and in the center is a full size bed. A slim figure hides within the rumpled covers and falling from them and off the bed is a familiar honey brown braid that is loosened and bed worn. He sits down on the side of the bed and tenderly moves the covers to uncover Duo's sleeping face.]
/o Suddenly I can see everything that's wrong with me
[He tenderly caresses his cheek with his thumb and then leans over and kisses it]
/o But what can I do?
[Heero gets up and turns away from the bed and puts on a jacket]
/o I'm the only thing I really have at all
[As the sound of a door clicking shut, Duo's eyes flash open. He raises himself from the bed and quickly throws pants over his boxers and a T-shirt on and runs out the door]
/o But wait just one minute here
[Duo runs toward the distant figure in the darkness]
/o I can see that she's trying to need me
[Heero is leaning over the grass staring at puts a hand on his face as he sees an image of Relena overpowering his vision and he begins to shudder violently]
/o suddenly I know
[He stands as he feels the warmth of a familiar hand on his back, and looks up into the face of a concerned Duo, his smile concerned and yet still the silly crooked smile He loved so much]
/o she's going to change the world
[Duo wraps his arms around his lover and then begins to walk him back to the house, but Heero stops and grasps him again in a hug as he rests his head on his shoulder, taking in the familiar scent of Duo's hair]
/o she's going to change the world
[He says to Duo rapidly and almost unintelligibly how much he loves him and reveals his fears about Relena and his guilt]
/o she's going to change the world
/o but she can't change me
[Duo holds him close and the loosens the grip and looks into the usually fierce eyes of his lover to see the child that Heero once was]
/o no she can't change me
[Duo takes him by the hand and leads him back towards the door]

Author's note: Yeah, I know. This is bizarre. When I first heard this song, I was like "Whoa, this
is like the perfect Heero and Relena relationship song!. But, myself being a fervent
DuoxHeero/HeeroxDuo writer, I wouldn't let myself write something that _promoted_ the
