I'm remembering the many things
That I've done in my life.
Things like dating boys;
having fun; and
adjusting as a wife.

The carefree days of childhood,
they were so long ago.
And in those early years,
how was I to know,
it would take several heartbreaks
as I travelled on my way.
And that loves I'd hoped were meant to be
weren't ever there to stay.

Perhaps at times I was hasty
in breaking the ties.
Maybe they'd have lasted, but then,
one only really tries.
To do what ones thinks best.
To try to ease the pain.
That happens when your heart breaks.
Over and over again.
