Lily, can I tell you a secret
that I have inside of me?
It isn't really bad you know,
but it's sure been troubling me.

My heart had been unhappy then
for quite a while,
and I was only searching for
something to make me smile!

It all began one Spring morn
while strolling down The Lane.
When suddenly, unexpectedly
it had started out to rain.

Where can I go to shelter?
and hopefully stay dry?
or this muslin dress will ruin,
thought I with a sigh.

"Excuse Me, Miss. Please step inside".
Were the words that I was told.
"Come in, get dry, take shelter,
before you catch a cold".

Then we both began to natter
as I sheltered in his store.
When suddenly my eyes caught sight of it ~~
Just inside the door.

Quite truly it was amazing.
The most wonderous thing I'd seen
and "Yes I'd love to try it on."
I mumbled in a dream.

Well, I was all full of passion
as we talked about this 'thing'.
Because I believed it could make my happy
make me want to dance, to sing.

What was it that I did upon that fateful day?
What caused me to loose my head
in such a silly way?

You see my eyes they had caught sight of a most wonderful feathered hat
and I just had to buy it Lily.
And my secret is just that!
