KEEP MUM!

(done with cockney accent)

Teach 'im ta fight.
Teach 'im ta run.
'E's doin' a duty
wot mus' be done.

Giv' 'im a gun.
The blood mus' run.
Tis honor and glory
wot mus' be won.

Tell 'im it's freedom.
Tell 'im we've won,
but 'bout the horror,
keep mum, keep mum.

ROAD KILL

On my walk, I pass an animal
dismembered by the tires of a passing car.
Everything from the inside: organs, fluids and limbs,
lay against the black tar of the road.

People wonder what the wounds were like in Vietnam.

I can't describe, except to say:
"They weren't simple; they were massive."
I talk in the jargon, GSW, MFW, BKA, etc., .....

In reality, they got off the planes,
were given weapons and sent off into a jungle.

Then, the Cadillac, Lincoln, BMW war machine,
back seat full of money and tank full of gas,
rolled over your children and turned them into
just so much road kill.
