*Author's Note: In Homer's Odessey , the hero Odesseus and his men are told bu the witch Circe that they will come across many obstacles in order to return to Ithica, their home. One of the obstacles was to sail past the Sirens, flying bird-like women who's haunting songs lured men to their deaths. Lorelei is said to be on of those Sirens. Also, I don't believe in this kind of stuff. Y'know, multiple gods and all that bruehaha. But, it is one of my favorite topics. I'm fascinated with Greek mythology and the Sirens happen to be one of my favorite topics. So, no, I am not an athiest. If you are an athiest, I respect you and your beliefs. Enjoy the story!*
She was haunting him. Why couldn't he get her out of his head? Her long, dark hair; grey-white eyes; frail, thin stature. And her musical, sing-song voice. She wasn't beautiful, but she was definately unlike any girl he had ever seen.
"Come see me, Taylor. Night has fallen. Come."
The voice startled him, overflowing his mind.
"Who are you?" he said to no one.
"It's me, Taylor. Lori. Come to the sea, Taylor. Please come. I need you."
He stood unwillingly and left his hotel room. He walked almost zombie-like down the stairs and out the back door of the hotel that led to the beach.
"Taylor, is that you?"
The voice was so beautiful, like an unwritten melody. He saw her standing a few feet away from him, right on the edge of the ocean. The waves lapped at her feet and soaked the end of her white, nightgown-like dress.
"Lori?"
She turned her head and smiled at him, her almost white eyes glowing in the moonlight. Her hair blew slightly in the breeze, tiny whisps of black blowing in her face. She didn't bother to sweep them away.
"Hello, Taylor. I'm so glad you came."
She reached out her hand, guesturing for him to come closer. He did, standing at her side and taking her hand.
"Isn't the sea beautiful, Taylor? So mysterious, so enchanting."
"Yeah, I guess," he said, following her gaze out onto the dark water before them.
"You know what would be really fun right now, Taylor?" she asked, a giddiness he had never seen in her shining in her eyes. "A night swim!" She let go of his hand and proceeded to unlace the back of her dress. He watched, bewildered, as the dress fell to her ankles, revealing her thin, naked body. She giggled and ran out into the water, and diving in. She swam a ways out and looked back at Taylor. "Taylor? Aren't you coming in? The water feels great!"
Taylor looked warily up at the sky, where dark clouds were forming above them. "I dunno, Lori. It looks like it's about to storm."
Lori's musical giggle filled his ears. "Oh, Taylor, it's not going to rain. I won't let it." She looked him straight in the eye, even from a distance entrancing him. "Come to the sea, Taylor. You'll like it here."
Taylor smiled and shook of the eerie feeling in his gut. He began to take off his clothing and was soon paddling his way out to her.
A bolt of lightning flew across the sky, followed by a deafening clap of thunder. Taylor stopped swimming and looked up.
"Lori! I think we should get out of the water. It's going to storm."
Lori laughed again. "Oh, please, Taylor! The lightning won't hurt you! Not while I'm around."
She paddled over to him, pressing her lips firmly against his. Her kisses began to calm him, and he soon forgot about the raging storm building above them. She reached underneath the surface of the water and began to lightly stroke him, causing goosebumps to raise on his arms. He moaned softly, reaching up and grabbing one of her breasts, massaging it rhythmically. She wrapped her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist, kissing him feverishly.
Another flash of lightning ripped across the sky, striking a tree on a nearby cliff. Taylor tore away from Lori's grasp and watched the tree fall from the cliff and crash into the raging waves below.
"Lori, we seriously need to get out of the water," he said, and began to swim towards the shore. Just as he climbed onto the beach, he heard a deafening scream from behind him. He spun around, his eyes growing wide with fright at the scene before him.
Lori floated above the water, her eyes closed and her arms outstretched. He watched in horror as her arms began to transform into magnificant white wings. Her eyes flew open, the soft grey colour of them replaced with a firery red glare. She opened her mouth as if to scream, only no ear-peircing scream was heard. Instead, a soft, clear melody filled his ears, calming his fears. After about five minutes of the song, she closed her eyes, opening them again to reveal the soft, grey-white gaze that he had seen in here earlier.
"Come back, Taylor. Don't leave me out here alone," she begged.
Taylor looked at her for a while, still frightened. "Who...what are you?"
"My name is Lorelei. Lori is my nickname. I'm a Siren."
"What's a Siren?"
"That doesn't matter, Taylor. All I want right now is for us to be together...forever."
Taylor began to walk back towards the ocean, but stopped. "No," he said. "It's about to storm. We don't need to be in the water."
"But..."
"Listen, Lorelei or whatever your name is, if you can't come to me, then I won't come to you." With that, he began to put his clothes back on. As he pulled his shirt over his head, another ear-piercing scream filled his ears. He spun around to see Lorelei, still floating above the water, the red glare returning to her eyes.
"I gave you a chance for immortality, Taylor," she said, her voice deep, demonish. "You cannot give up this chance. Please, Taylor. I can give you anything you desire. Just come with me."
"Immortality? Hell no! Thanks for the offer, lady, but I kinda like it here on earth."
"Fine, may the Zues punish you for your wrongfull decision and Hades burn your body in the infinate flames of the underworld!" she screamed, as a bolt of lightning flashed down from the sky and struck her. With a final scream, she disappeared, along with any memory Taylor had of her.
