Parts
Sources
There's lot's of places to find parts, some right here on the internet.
Check out my Classifieds, and
Links pages. I recommend frequenting the Thrift
stores, yard sales, swap meets, and estate sales in your own area first.
If there is not a slew of other bot builders in your area, you will be amazed
at how lucky you will be on your first day out. My first day of hitting the
thrift stores netted a floralier, a candy dispenser, and two flashlights.
It won't hurt to print my illustrated parts lists and use them as wanted
posters for sympathetic thrifstore owners. Remember, all this stuff was
commonplace in the 'eighties when Joel first built the robots. Also
there are some fantastically talented guys who make reproduction parts. And
it's perfectly OK to use reproduction parts, BBI sure did. I have provided
links to the fantastically talented guys, if you are also fantastically talented,
or have a cache of parts large enough to be considered a "source" email me,
and I'll add you to the list.
The Fantastically Talented Guys:
Tom Seiler - Makes a Money Lover Barrel reproduction better than the ones BBI used
Gary Glover - Author of the Official Bot Builder's Guide, also has many parts for sale
Bo McDonald - Bo is virtually a legend in this area, and has many parts available
Ed Miarecki - Like Bo, another legend in the part making arena. Ed restored the classic Star Treck Enterprise that now rests in the Smithsonian..
CyberGregg - Well, I'm not really in the same league as these guys, but it's my site and I want my name here (and I have a couple of parts to trade)
