Just a personal note from Pat Hobbs...

I hope that you have fun with Leo lionni's Literature-based Unit.  I worked on this unit many years ago when I was in student teaching! I never knew how it would turn out until I reworked it several times, then actually did everything when I finally ended up with a second grade class, after having Pre-K and a mixed-age intermediate class. Second Grade is the perfect age for this unit!

This is not a linear unit. Anything you want to switch around, or else skip around throughout is fine. You must use your own best judgment about what your class needs! Remember everything is needs based! Good luck with this unit! I know I had fun with it, especially the EEL picture! It really was fun, and the kids loved it!

The Activities Page for Students was designed for the children to use independently during Computer Center time, or
Group Time during Reading lessons. The activities are to be used as reinforcement for the lessons taught
in the Teacher Section. Students have free choice, but it is recommended that students practice concepts that
are taught during the Phonics, or Word Analysis Lessons.

Have Fun!
