Letter on Page 10

A sample typed by Dr. Newbrough on the same Sholes typewriter on which Oahspe was written during 1881. Note that it is all upper case (caps only), and he added punctuation by hand. The letter was written from Shalam, the colony less than 2 miles from Dona Ana, near Las Cruces, New Mexico, in 1890. It is addressed to Gustave Percival Wiksell of Boston, Mass., another charter member of Shalam. Wiksell had left the colony and was a selling agent for Oahspe in Boston. The letter concerns the readying for publication of the "revised and corrected" 1891 edition of Oahspe. Dr. Newbrough died on April 22, 1891 at Shalam, while Andrew Howland was in Boston on the business of publishing the 1891 Oahspe.
