OVERVIEW: Akane is a pivitol character in the
show because she is Ranma's primary fiance. The story
would probably end if her and Ranma (or Akane and someone
else) got married. Akane's main traits are her kindness
to strangers, her violence towards people she does not
like, and her inability to cook (as seen below). Akane
has been known to attack Ranma on many occasions
(usually with a mallet or a boot through the roof).
HISTORY: Akane made her first appearance at the
very beginning of the show and has appeared in virtually
every episode since. Akane never had any interest in
boys. She only worried about her martial arts. Then
Ranma came in. It seemed Akane and Ranma started
out on the right foot, but when Akane accidently walks
in on boy-form Ranma in the shower, things start to go
downhill. It seems that Akane's dislike towards the male
gender stems from her daily attacks by every male in her
school. They attack her because they like her and Kuno
(the most devoted boy in the school to Akane) says that
only the person who defeats her in combat can date with
her. Akane also has a dislike for many females as well.
Females such as Shampoo, Kodachi, or Ukyo can make Akane
mad enough to strike out at them (and, unfortunately,
Ranma gets in the way).
FIGHTING STYLE: Akane is one of the select few
females who practices the Tendo Anything Goes Martial
Arts style. Two other girls, who are not really part
of the Tendo family, use the Tendo Anything Goes Martial
Arts style. In this flexible form of fighting, a fighter
can adapt to any situation and change fighting
forms instantly. Akane's main forms of martial arts
are karate and kempo. However, in an angry state, Akane
can brawl with her opponents. Akane has had a lot of
training due to the aforementioned fact that she would
fight hormone-crazed, teenaged boys every morning before
school. One of Akane's ally in a fight is her
incredible strength, which is usually used for beating
up Ranma. Akane's greatest weakness is that she is much
slower than all the other characters in the show. She been
defeated by Shampoo, kidnapped by Mousse, and she is
threatened by Kodachi a lot. Another weakness of Akane's
is that she can be very gullible and easily fooled.
Akane's golden heart is almost always manipulated by
Happosai by him invoking her sympathy by pretending
to be hurt or sorry.
WEAPONS: Akane generally uses no weapons in fights
but is commonly seen waving an oversized mallet at Ranma.
Akane has also shown talent in wielding sparring swords.
ATTACKS: HIRYU SHOTEN HA ATTACK (REVISED):
This attack was used in the OAV tape, "Akane and Her Sisters"
2-part episode. Two very strong girls that practiced the
Tendo Anything Goes Martial Arts style (mentioned above)
claimed the Tendo Dojo as theirs. Akane and Ranma decided
to team up and fight the very formidable pair. This attack
consisted of Ranma using his Hiryu Shoten Ha attack (see
Ranma Profile) and shooting it right
behind Akane. Akane uses the momentum of the energy to
move straight at their opponents at a great speed. This
attack can also cancel out the energy of other power-blasts.
