A phone rings in, the sound nearly muffled by a purse. Mikala reaches into her bag and pulls out her cell phone and flips it open. "Talk to me." she says into the phone.
"Honey where are you?" a worried voice asks.
"Sweetie, its ok. I am at the airport, my plane just landed. I will be home in a couple hours." She replied.
"Good, when you get home we need to talk. We don’t have much time."
"Don’t worry, I will be home as soon as I can and we’ll talk. I love you babe." She says before flipping the phone closed and sticking it back in her purse.

Hey, if we can't find a way out of these problems
Then maybe we don't need this
Standing face to face
Enemies at war we build defenses
And secret hiding places

The limo pulls up to the lavish house set in a secluded area near a lake. The door opens and Mikala steps out of the limo. "Its great to be home again." she thinks to herself, not know what is about to happen. She sees the door open and Chris comes out of the house and stands on the porch as the limo driver pulls her bags out of the trunk. "Come over here babe and give me a kiss," she calls to Chris. He slowly comes.
"Welcome home sweetheart," he says as he embraces her in a hug and smothers her with kisses.
"Thank you babe. Give me a hand with my bags, will you?" she asks motioning to the four bags the limo driver pulled out.
"Sure hun," he said with a slight smile on his face.
"I am glad I can see you for a short period of time, even though its only a few hours since you have to leave with the guys tomorrow for another tour." Mikala said as they walked towards the house.
*-----------------------------------------------------*
I might need you to hold me tonight
I might need you to say it's all right
I might need you to make the first stand
Because tonight I'm finding it hard to be your man

After Mikala’s stuff had been put up in their room, they settled down in the loveseat in the living room. "So babe, what did you want to talk about?" She said, breaking the silence.
"Well sweetheart, the fact that you and I are performers and tour at different times is putting a strain on our relationship. Half the time, when I am on tour with the guys, you are in the studio or on a promo tour outside the U.S. Tonight is one of the rare moments we get together at home anymore." Chris started. "I think we should break it off for a bit of time and then get back together if we really want to."
"But Chris, I think," Mikala started to say as tears appeared in her eyes.
"No, don’t speak. I think it is better this way." He said. Mikala got up and ran from the room.
*-----------------------------------------------------*
Hey, more than angry words I hate this silence
It's getting so loud
Well I want to scream
But bitterness has silenced these emotions
It's getting hard to breathe
So tell me isn't happiness
Worth more than a gold and diamond ring?

Mikala pulled out her cell phone and dialed her close friend Selene.
"Hello," someone said as they picked up.
"Selene? Its Mikala. I need help. Can I come stay at your place for a couple weeks? Just till I can find a place of my own." She asked through her sobs.
"Sure, but why? Why are you crying? What did he do to you now?" Selene replied.
"Chris decided that he is fed up with our relationship, despite the fact that we are engaged and he thinks we should see other people and maybe sometime in the future he and I will get back together. I doubt that will happen cuz he sounded so serious about his decision." She replied.

I'm willing to do anything
To calm the storm in my heart
I've never been the praying kind
But lately I've been down upon my knees
Not looking for a miracle
Just a reason to believe

Mikala was packed within a matter of a couple hours and moved in with Selene that night. They stayed up all night and Selene helped her get over the fact that she was upset. They watched movies, ate ice cream, and talked about things the whole night. The next morning, they cleaned up the mess that they had made the night before and then showered before heading out to the mall for a day of shopping. Selene hoped that shopping would further take Mikala’s mind off of her troubles with Chris.

The weeks passed and Mikala moved into her own place in Ruskin. The day she moved in, she realized that there was a huge fenced in yard, perfect for dogs, along with a nice big inground pool that was fenced in separately. She bought some furniture, 4 pugs, and all the dog supplies she would need. She busied herself in her work as well as her new pets. All the while, she wondered if he would ever call her because she was too afraid to call him.

Do you remember not long ago?
When we used to live for the night-time
Cherish each moment
Now we don't live we exist
We just run through our lives
So alone
That's why you've got to hold me

One day, Mikala was looking over the lyrics to some new songs for her next album while the radio played in the background. She perked up with the DJ announced what the next song was and who it was dedicated to. "Hey guys, the next song is "Hold Me" from Savage Garden. Someone called up and asked me to dedicate this song to a girl by the name of Mikala from a guy named Chris. Mikala, if you are listening, Chris says he’s sorry for what he did but he doesn’t think things can ever be the same between you too." Then the song started playing and the tears appeared in her eyes as she heard the opening lines to "Hold Me" start.

After the song ended, the phone rang. Mikala slowly picked it up and hesitantly answered it. "Hello," she said as she shook with fear.
"Mikala, sweetie, its Chris. I am sorry but I don’t think it will work out. I think maybe we should consider just be friends now and forever. Still, I need to see you tonight. Meet me at the park tonight at 10, please."
"Chris, I don’t know. Fine, I will see you tonight at 10 but I don’t know what it will prove." She replied.

Mikala arrived at the park a few minutes before 10 and found Chris under their special tree. "Hey Chris," she said with a sigh.
"I am sorry it had to come to this," he replied.
"Its ok. I knew it wouldn’t work when I became famous, with the both of being so busy with work and everything." She said as she slowly pulled off her engagement ring and held it out to Chris. "Here’s my ring back. Now, if you don’t mind I am going. I have things to get done."
Chris took the ring then spoke, "Sweetie, I want you to keep this."
"Chris I heard your message over the radio and I am pretty sure it won’t work out in the end." She replied.
"Please, keep it for my sake." He answered back as he handed it back to her. She took it and put it back on.
"Ok, but I need to go or I feel like I am going to be begging for your forgiveness and to take me back. Goodbye for now." She said before leave.
