Chapters 16-20

After I finished my breakfast, I walked out of the restaurant and headed to the elevator. I got into the elevator and went back up to the floor where the suites were, so that I could get changed before we went out for the day. I let myself in with my room key card. I walked into my room in the spacious suite, opened my suitcase, and I pulled out my hip-hugging dark blue denim cargo shorts and my body hugging green tank-top, which had a cute flowery pattern on it. I went into the bathroom, brushed my teeth, brushed my hair, and got dressed. I walked out of the bathroom and over to my backpack to get something out of it. I pulled out two little rubber band like elastics for my hair. I walked back into the bathroom and grabbed my hair brush. I grabbed half of my hair and gave it a quick once over with the brush before braiding it into a nice, neat pigtail braid. I did the same with the other side. I put my wallet into my pocket and attached the chain to my belt loop. I put on my normal jewelry, grabbed my sunglasses from the dresser and placed them on my head. I clipped my pager to my left pocket and put my cell phone into one of the pockets on my cargo shorts. I looked at my clock in the room and it was only 9:30, so I had sometime before Brian came over to get me to go downstairs and meet Kevin to go and have fun today. I sat down on my bed and turned on the t.v. I put on MTV, knowing well that it was a week day and a TRL day. Just then, Mtv News came on, which seemed weird to me, considering the fact that I knew that Mtv News didn’t run spots at that time normally. News spots were at 10 to the hour, every hour. "Hi, I am John Norris with a special report. 5 hours ago, in the pre-dawn hours this morning in the outskirts of Lexington, the tour bus for ‘N Sync and the tour bus for Limp Bizkit collided when the driver of Limp Bizkit’s tour bus supposedly fell asleep at the wheel and crossed the line. Both drivers were killed instantly. There is no word yet on how seriously hurt anyone from the two groups are yet. We will keep you updated on this developing story as more news becomes available." The news anchor said. Just then, there was a knock on the door to the suite. I went to the door and looked to see who it was. It was Brian and he had something behind his back, but I couldn’t see nor tell what it was. I opened the door. "Hey Brianna, ready to go?" he asked. "Yes," I answered as I stepped out the door. I yelled bye to my adoptive parents as the door to the suite closed behind me. Brian and I walked down to the lobby by way of the stairs.

When we got to the lobby, Kevin wasn’t there yet. I noticed that Brian had one of those cute one strap bags that were starting to become very popular. Brian must have noticed me staring at his pack, but he didn’t say anything. "He must be waiting for Kevin to get here to do anything." I thought to myself. Just then, Kevin walked in with a similar backpack on his back. He walked up to us. Kevin and Brian faced me and started talking to me. "Brianna, as a part of tradition, we got something for you." Brian said. "All of the guys in the Backstreet Boys have them and we thought that you would love to have one too." Kevin added. Brian then proceeded to hand me something. I looked at what he had just handed me. It was a red colored one strapped backpack, similar to what they both had. I strapped it on to my back, with the help of my brother. We walked outside and headed down the street. Kevin, Brian, and I walked together. We reached a shop that looked pretty interesting from the outside, so we walked in to take a good look at what was in there. I found a cute necklace with a butterfly on it and a thin hoop, which had a butterfly in the center of it. I bought both things and then put them in my backpack.

After looking around at numerous shops and making numerous purchases, we decided that we were hungry. We walked down to Planet Hollywood and walked in. We ordered our food right away, so that hopefully we wouldn’t have to wait too long. While we were sitting at the table, I looked at the stuff I had bought. I had surprised myself by how much I spent and what I had bought. I had gotten 3 new bucket hats, which I love, they were in 3 different colors. One was red, another was midnight blue, and the third was baby blue in color. I had also gotten the necklace and earring with the butterflies, a couple of items at Gap, a couple things at Old Navy, two CDs, some sheet music, and I had even found the Fubu Jersey that I had been looking all over for. It was a baby blue with dark blue football styled jersey. Some how I had managed to fit all of that stuff into my new backpack. A few minutes later, our lunch arrived. I picked up my burger with my left hand and took a bite. I noticed Brian staring at my left hand and I realized that he must have been staring at my claddagh ring. "Are you looking at my claddagh ring on my hand?" I asked my brother. "Yeah, how did you know?" Brian replied. "I saw your eyes looking at it." I answered. "Why are you wearing it?" Brian asked. "Well, there are two reasons that I am wearing it. One reason is because it was given to me. The second reason is that I am wearing it is because the way that I am wearing it means that my heart is taken by someone. I do have a boyfriend." I stated. "Really? That is awesome to know. What is he like?" Brian said. "Yes. He is one of the sweetest guys in the world that I have ever known." I responded. "What’s his name?" Kevin asked me. "His name is Justin." I responded, "I have known him since he and I were both little because we lived in Memphis, TN when I was little. We moved to Indiana when Justin was like 10 and I was 8. We still kept in-touch though after I moved. Finally this year, on my 16th Birthday, he gave me the ring and asked me to be his girlfriend." "That is great to know sis," Brian said. "Yes," I responded and then continued to eat my burger. We finished eating and asked the waitress for the bill. Brian paid, then we got up and left the restaurant.

We walked down to Times Square, which took a good half an hour, and joined the masses standing around the building. Kevin spotted a camera man, walked over to him and talked to him for a minute before walking back. "I told him to tell Carson that 2 of the Backstreet Boys were outside in the crowd with one of their relatives." Kevin said with a smile. I looked up at the window of the TRL building and saw Carson Daly standing at the window. I waved at him while I told Brian and Kevin that he was standing at the window. Carson must have seen me waving because he waved back and smiled at me. The cameraman walked over to Kevin, Brian, and I and handed Brian a microphone, since he was in the middle of me and Kevin. We were set so that we could hear Carson when he started to talk to us while we were still down there. "Hey, what’s up Brian and Kevin?" Carson asked as he saw them. "Not much man," Kevin responded to the VJ with a smile on his face. "Who is that pretty girl that is standing next to you Brian?" Carson questioned. "I’m Brianna. I am Brian’s sister, which makes me Kevin’s cousin as well." I responded. "Why don’t you guys come up and we can chat more in the studio." Carson said. "Ok," we responded. Brian handed the microphone to the cameraman and we followed someone, so that we could get up to the studio to hang out and chat with Carson.

In no time at all, we were up in the studio hanging with Carson. "So, when did you realize that you had a sister Brian?" Carson asked. "About a year ago, when my mom started talking about getting touch with someone to get someone back by the time she was 16. I talked to my mom about it and she mentioned that when I was 8, she had another child, but had to give her up for adoption because we didn’t have enough money for another child in the house due to the fact that we were still financially strained from when I had been in the hospital at age 5." Brian answered. "So Brianna, what is it like to find out that you have famous family members?" Carson asked me. "Well, it is amazing. One day, I was a girl who lived in a small Indiana town that had an older boyfriend that lived in another state and the next, I am Brianna, the sister of Brian Littrell and the cousin of Kevin Richardson of the Backstreet Boys." I replied. "Can you tell us more about yourself?" Carson questioned. "Sure. I lived in Memphis, TN until the age of 8. That year, we moved up to Indiana, where I resided until I found out that I was adopted. I had a friend that I left when I moved, but he and I kept in-touch the whole time and this year, on my birthday he came and surprised me with this ring (shows the ring on her left hand) and asked me to be his girlfriend." I stated. "Oh how sweet." Carson replied. "Now here is Britney Spears at #4 with "Crazy." (video break) "That was Britney Spears at #4 today. We are back with Kevin, Brian, and Brianna." Carson said. "Carson can I say something to someone?" I asked the VJ. "Sure," he replied. "Justin sweetheart, if you are watching this, I want you to know that I will love you always with all my heart and soul no matter what." I said as tears started forming in my eyes. "That is very sweet Brianna." Carson said. "Would you like to announce the next video?" "Sure. Totals for video#3- phone calls- 18%, e-mails-16%. Coming in at #3 today is Christina Aguilera with "Genie in a Bottle." I said. (video break) "That was Christina Aguilera at #3 today with "Genie in a Bottle." Carson said. "Here are the totals for the #2 video. Phone calls-22%, e-mails- 20%, coming in at #2 today is ‘N Sync and Gloria Estefan with "Music Of My Heart." I said. (video break) "That was ‘N Sync and Gloria Estefan with "Music Of My Heart in the runner-up position today. We are going to take a commercial break and we will be right back with the #1 video." Carson said. (commercial break) "We are back and it is time to unveil the #1 video." Carson said. "Total for the #1 video- Phone calls-25%, e-mails-24%. Coming in at #1 today is none other than my brother and my cousin’s group, the Backstreet Boys with "Larger Than Life." I said. (video break) "That was Backstreet Boys at #1 today. Well that is all the time that we have for today. I would like to thank my guests Kevin, Brian, and Brianna for coming up today. It was great to have you guys here and anytime that you guys are in-town and have time, we would love for you guys to stop by." Carson said. "Thanks for having us Carson." I said. We walked out of the studio after shaking hands with Carson. We walked out onto the sidewalk and started walking back to our hotel.
