The Vampire Monthly
THE NEWSLETTER FOR LOV

Well, here it is, the very first copy of our Guild's new newsletter, the Vampire Monthly. This newsletter will be a forum for Queen MaidMarie, King Starlord and Princess Kaleen to have things like Promotions, Inductions, etc., to be published. It will be produced on a monthly basis, but not on any set day for now. Heading up our newsletter is Athos, the Princess' Consort. He is our Chief Editor and makes sure we don't write anything too offensive, obnoxious, or in just plain bad taste. Assisting him with proofreading and distribution is MerlCat. She will be checking my work, and slapping me upside the head if I make too many spelling errors! Finally, writing most of the newsletter and formatting it, is yours truly, McGavin.

LETTER FROM THE EDITOR
Written by Athos.
It has been a great honor to be the editor of this paper. I would like to thank every member of LOV for making this possible. Special thanks to MaidMarie and Starlord, for whom this Guild would not be possible. Thanks you two!!
If you ever have suggestions on the newspaper or questions, please direct them to Athos, MerlCat and McGavin. (Journalistic insert; also you may write to LOV News at MB# 317048, or to AOL Screen, LOV News.) If you would like to place an ad, please feel free.
On a Real World note, we are having a real world get together in Vegas. It will be on April 20th and 21st at the Excalibur Hotel. Personally, I will be there on Friday, the 19th, but I get anxious! I have set up a Live Action Role-playing game and would like to play test it, so if you have costuming for your character please bring it. I hope that everyone can attend. These always bring up the moral support for the guild and I hope to have them every 6 months in various areas so that everyone can attend. Thanks everyone again for being a part of LOV. Till then keep Vamping and remember to always help the new person. Unless they are a jerk! Just Kidding!!!

EDITOR'S CHOICE
Written by Athos, LOV Protector
The dust rose behind him as Relic ran from the pursuing enemy behind him.
It had been an ambush and he was the only one left out of the party of four. He sword at himself for traveling with such incompetent fighters. Divide and conquer was the oldest trick in the book. He heard the enemy give up chase and he slowed, his chest rising and lowering quickly he caught his breath. "Damn, I smoke too much," he whispered.
In the distance he could see the castle which had been the party's objective. Looking back he decided that it would probably be safer to move forward by himself. Surely the enemy would still look for him. He was the only one who held the key to the place. That would mean more for himself. Look out for yourself that is what is father had always said. Lighting up a cigarette he started down the trail once again. As he trudged along the road he saw an older man in the distance walking through the hills. As he approached, the man waved to him. Not seeing any harm in it, he walked toward the man. "Come closer young man so that I may see you better," he said in quite a clear voice. "I would like to offer you something for your services."
And what would that be old man?" Relic asked, mockingly. The old man pointed to the castle in the distance and said, "In that castle lies a book, a book that I have searched for many years. It contains powers to the old magic which I seek. IN return will give you power beyond your dreams. Can you imagine not being hurt by normal weapons? Not having to sleep or eat, and living forever?"
"Of course," replied Relic, "but what is the catch?"
No catch, just the book," the old man said smiling. "On top of all else you shall be the General of my army! What will be our answer, Relic?"
Relic looked at him surprised. "How did you know my name old man?"
"I have been watching for a long time now. Tell me your answer, we don't have much time. It is getting dark and you must be on your way. Of course, I will give you what you desire before you leave, you will need it in there," pointing to the castle.
Relic thought for a second. This was too good an offer to pass up. Looking at the old man he nodded, "Yes, I will take your offer."
The man smiled and beckoned Relic to him. Relic climbed the hill to the old man. He let him about fifty more feet where Relic saw material components on the ground for a spell.
The old man motioned for him to sit and he did so without hesitation. He started to speak in a language that Relic did not understand. Suddenly he found that he could not move a muscle. The man looked at him and reassured him that he was going to be alright. "Now," he said to him, "this is going to hurt for a bit."
Suddenly Relic felt every point in his body rack in pain. The only thing he could do was scream in agony in his own mind where no one could hear him. Memories that were not his own flashed in his mind but somehow he felt he had been there himself. The feeling of anger and the resentment of living things entered into his mind. It was then that he realized that he was being turned into some undead creature. The only thing he could hope for was that he was a strong undead and would be able to think for himself.
The pain racked for what seemed an eternity. He thought he felt his face melting at one point, but he was not sure. when it was over, his body slumped to the ground literally lifeless. He could no longer feel what used to be his soul. He stood and looked for the old man but he was nowhere to be seen. He searched his body and found that in every aspect he was the same, although he felt stronger and more alert. His face. He remembered his face melting in the confusion of the spell. His hand immediately examined his face. He could feel the outlines of a few marks. What was going on here?
He saw a lake not to far away from where he stood and he dashed for it. He was there a lot quicker than he anticipated and almost fell into the lake. He was also faster. As the sun fell behind the farthest mountain and it shined its orange hues across the land, Relic looked into the lake. The outline of a skull peered back at him, distorted by the ripples in the lake. He could see his undead face looking mockingly back at him.
Relic screamed for what had happened to him.
In the distance he could hear the evil laugh of the old man. "Now go and do my bidding the man who was once called Relic!"
Moral: Don't leave the party behind!

THE LIGHTER SIDE
Humor Columns
Pie Fight In Tavern
Every Friday it seems that the members of LOV can be found in Ranger Retreat, or CW Help Hall (Cawdor), engaging in pie fights. These are not your ordinary a pie in the face or two type fights. These people get armed to the teeth. I'm talking some serious pie throwing weaponry here. SO far there has been Ferret's Pie-a-Pult, Athos' Pile-o-Pies, and Tart Gun, TimberWolf has an entire vault of pies hidden beneath Ranger Retreat. I have it on good authority that he has one near to completion in CW Help Hall! I've pulled out a 40mm automatic pastry grenade launcher on occasion when these fights really get going! I understand that Asia fell victim to a David Letterman's Box-full-o-Pies! The perpetrator of that one has pleaded the fifth, so I can remain anonymous.
UFO Spotted?
At least three times so far, members of LOV have been seeing a UFO flying around the tavern! As it turns out, the alleged UFO was none other than Magius' rubber girlfriend. A helpful hand has produced a rubberized canvas doll for him, so she shouldn't pop and fly around the tavern when he gives her a hug now.
The DOG is back!
Look out everyone, DOG has returned and he's cashing his tail even more enthusiastically now!

AOL MAILING
If you have AOL and Word for Windows, Works for Windows, or WordPerfect for Windows, you can receive a formatted version of the newsletter. This makes for much nicer reading and printing, without using your INN hours. Also, it will help us with distribution of the newsletter, because we can do group mailings on AOL, and we won't need to spend hours sending it out to INN MB #'s. Send a letter to AOL Screen Name, LOV News, Subject: Mailing, to set this up. Also, for those with other on-line services, if you can get us a letter to AOL (CompuServe will work) we can mail to you also. In your letter, specify who you are in LOV, which word processor you use and its version #, example -- Works for Windows, 3.0.
For those with only Write for Windows, send a letter also, if there are enough requests we'll support Write word processor also.
Writer's Note: If you would like to submit a story, ad or humor column, etc., write to either the INN MB# with an attention line specifying for what column, or to AOL with the subject specifying the column. Ads and personals, use Classified as the Column name.

GAME HINTS, Q&A
We need volunteers to help us with this area by answering questions sent to this column. To volunteer for answering questions, send a letter to this paper, Subject/Attention: Hints Volunteer. Include your character name, area you think you can help with, and either your INN MB# or AOL Screen Name.
Anyone needing help with the games, Yserbius, Twinion or Cawdor, send a letter to this paper, Subject/Attention: Q&A
