Mortal Kombat's THE BLACK DRAGON

This is my webpage homage to (in my POV) the best thing to have ever happened to the fighing genre. Mortal Kombat, anyways, but Black Dragon in particular.

The Black Dragon is an organization of feared and respected fighters in the inner circles of crime in the Earth Realm. Though it is still unofficial, the Black Dragon is lead by one particular man of it's ranks, named Kano. He appears in a lot of the Mortal Kombat games you'll find out there, except for Mortal Kombat 2, Mortal Kombat 4, and Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub Zero.

The person obsessed with killing him is the ravishing Sonya Blade, but since she's an enemy to the Black Dragon and I simply don't like her character, this is as much appreciation as she'll get from me. Sorry, sugah'.

Anyhoo.

Throughout the games, and the movies, the creators have tried to shade the Black Dragon, and Kano in particular, in a far from flattering light. But maybe it's my way of thinking, and I like them anyways, and Kano in particular. You could go as much as calling me an inofficial Black Dragon member, I guess ;)

Well, yes, ok, so I can admit it. I've had a crush on Kano ever since MK 1 and it's stuck. As a penpal of mine once wrote me: "So, you like the rough guys, huh? Nothing wrong with that."

And, well, that's propably the only justification I have right now. Oh well. Many people often write that Kano is dead - I even read about as far as the fact that Sonya killed him, but trust me, readers, that's all complete rubbish. Sonya never caught him in her life, and propably never will. If you refer to the movie: Well, let's face it, the movies mess with our minds. It's completely unrelated to the true MK story. The only reason she kills him in the movie is because that's what movie-goers expect, just as they expect to see Shang Tsung to die, but he never really does during MK 1 as I remember. Then again I've never been too familiar with Shang's entire story, so I'd better shut up about that. Anyways, the only thing that supposevley kills Kano at the end of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 is the might of unleashed souls, HOWEVER, the ending only reads he is BELIEVED to have suffered a violent death, and it's never actually proven.

Now, the story of the Black Dragon carries on into Mortal Kombat 4 with Jarek, believed to be the last existing Black Dragon member (but, because I'm obsessed, I think Kano's still alive, so Jarek ISN'T the last ;). Again, many people say he died as Sonya or her partner Jax threw him off the cliff. Well, sorry, no can do there. I mean, he only dies in Jax' ending - in Jarek's ending, he lives, and kills Sonya. I think the whole tale as it ends depends on your fighter of choice.

Kabal...now, Kabal here is a very big dissappointment, to me, anyways. He used to be a Black Dragon, but what does the dork do? Quit and turn on Black Dragon! I mean...that just makes me furious! Sure, the episode (Defenders Of The Realm) with him and Sonya was really very touching ::sarcasm here, folks:: - I wasn't choked up this much about anything since I had a hairball stuck in my throat this morning (it's a cat thing)! The only good thing about the episode was that it dealt with Black Dragon in some way. Kabal is a traitor, and despite his character design and outfit is cool and all, I hate him.

Here are some pictures of the aforementioned Black Dragon Members.

The Black Dragon is propably the only reason I am still into Mortal Kombat, and that's a fact. And! Drumroll please... I naturally have my own MK characters (no piccys yet, I'm begging for comissions everywhere, so there'll be some stuff sooner or later), one based on my humble self, and another just to be my character's rival.

##FRENZY##

A last note on the symbol of the Black Dragon: Most official members have a tatoo of a black dragon on their cheekbone. However, the dragon itself is not necessarily eastern style. The dragon itself can be in any form as long as it is black or of very very dark color sheme.
