The Look in Your Eyes Celestia@innocent.com DiSCLAiMER: Paramount owns all of our pathetic little lives, yadda yadda yadda. I'm just giving Chak and Kat the wonderful wedding they deserve. And letting them have their cake and eat it too. Also letting them try French Fries.....speaking of French Fries, I've been thinking about what each character might put on their fries. Kat seems like a 'salt and a touch of vinegar' person, Chak seems like a 'small amount of ketchup' person, Tom must smother his fries in ketchup, Tuvok would just take them bland.....but I digress. (I do that a lot.....) :) Now, let us get back to the wedding! Pt. 1-Kathryn May 20th. It's a day I've dreaded for years now. When I was a child, I lived for it, for the cake and presents and extra attention which was so often reserved for Phoebe. But as I reached adulthood, it became a day of distractions, a time to avoid anyone who might know and remind me that I'm another year older. But this birthday's different. This year, I get the most wonderful present ever: you. When I saw you this afternoon, while I walked up the makeshift aisle in the beautiful holodeck creation of a lush park on Earth, in the tux that you'd just had replicated (which was, by the way, the nicest gift wrap I've er had on a present), I knew this would be forever, and I had no regrets. Only a hopefulness stirring up in my soul, a sensation which I have never felt so strongly before. I find it ironic that I've travelled so far and gained much of what I used to think was already in my grasp. Much has happened in this quadrant , aboard this tiny ship. I've regained my spirit, sense of adventure, wisdom, and found out what love *truly* is, which is not the dictionary definition which I was looking for back home. And now, as the entire senior staff join us in our celebration, drinking genuine wine and eating an ancient Terran delicacy which Tom calls "French Fries", I realize that this may very well be the happiest day of my life. The look in your eyes as your trembling yet strong hands slipped the ring over my small finger. The emotions which Tuvok's eyes betrayed as he read the vows he had prepared, even while his calm outer shield remined in tact. The wide smiles on the faces of the entire crew, for even though we are not much closer to home than we were yesterday, we've made Voyager feel that much more *like* a home. And now, knowing that we will celebrate this as a fondly remembered anniversary for many years to come, I know I will never hate my birthday again. Pt. 2- Chakotay I know that look on your face. You're thinking of something. I can practically see the wheels turning and the smoke coming our of your ears. From your smile, I can tell it's something good. I find myself vainly hoping that it's me you're thinking of. Our eyes meet and I know that you are. Your eyes have been filled with wonder this day, and mine have, too. I have to admit, I never though I'd see this day, the day I got married. But as you walked onto the Holodeck and I saw you in the traditional white dress complete with veil and boquet of pink Peace Roses, I knew this was reality. I also knew I had no regrets. Our eyes met then, and you communicated a novel to me, as you often do. I have never met anyone else with eyes that tell such exciting stories. In this case, you were thinking the almost the same things I was. I find it interesting, albeit a little strange, that now, six years after I met her, I find myself married to the woman who was sent to capture me for being a member of the Maquis. But even then I knew you were an amazing woman, Kathryn. Everything you do reinforces that fact. So, on our wedding day (and also your birthday, I swear you're getting younger instead of older) I state the obvious once again....I love you more than I ever though I could be able to. Hope you had a wonderful wedding day. Happy birthday and let us hope that there are many more for us to celebrate. Together. FiNi Don't you just love it when things work out for the best? &:) + ":) 4 eva!!!
