Amy discussed possible names for the conference.

Possibilities:

 It’s a Small World After All
 Media Portrayals in the Media
 One Diverse World
 We Are the World
 Building on our Differences: Gender, Preference, and Ethnicity in the Media/World

After a class vote the three remaining choices were:
 One Diverse World
 We Are the World
 Building on our Differences: Gender, Preference, and Ethnicity in the Media/World

We discussed the price for advertisements in the Conference Booklet
 $250- Full Page
 $75- Half Page
 $25- Business Size Card Advertisement

Steve Starley volunteered to do the nametags.

Brie Brissette volunteered to do invitations.

Minutes for March 30, 2000

Courtney Terrell was instructed to call the Physical Plant.

Ryan Schenkel is to talk to Brook Russell about signs and getting them ready
-The locations he has to call are the Campus Operator and the Physical Plant to get
  information on signs

Talked about getting Claudine Wong from Channel 16 as being a speaker

Lynda Jackson of Channel 33 in Ft. Wayne was brought up as potential speaker

There was an announcement that we needed older women for speakers.

Josh Anderson was instructed to make front page of Conference Booklet by Friday March 31, 2000

Amy Barnett told Banquet & Catering that food cannot be brought in until day of the conference.  Amy told that the serving size would be 75-100 people.

Ryan Schenkel suggested Hyatt as the location to go to get copies made.

Amy told Ed Kranz to make the judging forms by next week
 Decided that Judging Coordiator in other class is writing out the forms
 Must make 3 different forms for the 3 different events.

Invitations sent to high schools

Development cannot get started until everyone is done going to the businesses
 Alison Eldridge needs a list of all the businesses that people are planning to go to

Minutes for April 6, 2000

Kevin inquired as to how much money we can offer Olive Garden for food.  Dr. Maria informed
class that we are trying to get everything for free.

Steve Starley is getting nametag holders today

Gift and Acquisitions has to keep getting supplies
 Bibs that were recommended have come up missing.

Query on fliers that mysteriously showed up in LaFollette hall.  Amy instructed everyone to take
them down because no one has a clue as to who put them up.

Amy Barnett wants PFLAG letter sent out today.

Possibility of inviting B. Martin Foster- Muncie Times, the only Af. Am. Newspaper in Muncie

Ryan Schenkel brought up if parking lots R2 and R5 are the locations he should get for
the parking of the guests of the conference

Mary Sipes is in charge of laminating signs and Ryan should talk to her about that

Banquet and Catering everything has to be finished by Tuesday April 18

Brought to attention that we only have two weeks left till conference

Judging Coordinator has to get the list of confirmed judges by Tuesday April 11, 2000
 
Josh Anderson needs the list of judges so he can start typing out the Conference Booklet

Josh Anderson and Bryan VanDeKeere need to get synopsis of everyone’s project and by
Wednesday April 12

Dr. Maria needs the web address but Brian is still trying to get one

Facility Management will talk on Tuesday about getting rooms and tables.  Courtney has not
talked to the other class about organizing the rooms and tables

2:45 the fliers were delivered and are complete

Steve Straley asked how many nametags we needed and Dr. Maria told him 100

Josh Witsman needs a list of all the Indianapolis stations that we have invited

Dr. Maria told what attire was acceptable

Minutes for April 11, 2000

Start time: 2:00 P.M.


 
 

Josh Witsman wants to buy coins for the speakers.  The cost is $16 and Josh said that if we had 15 speakers it would cost $240.

Dr. Maria says that there are a limited number of speakers as of yet.  Told Josh to only get 10 coins

Gift bags will go to anyone who registers at the conference and it is estimated that we need 150 bags.

Olive Garden will donate two pans of lasagna and two pans of salad- it will feed thirty people

Every bakery in town turned down Renee.
 She was able to get $10 gift certificates from some area businesses.

Dr. Maria said to mail synopsis to Brian VanDerKee by Thursday

Ryan talked to parking services.  He can get 100 parking passes in red and green parking
areas.  He cannot get tickets in the red areas.

Courtney needs people for set up/clean up crew.

Allison got an assortment of gift certificates for the conference.

Gifts and Acquisitions cannot get mugs from.  Can get plastic cups from the Student Action
Team and fill them with candy and a pen from Wish TV 8

Judging Coordinators have nine judges in our class.  There are 11 in the other class.

 10% of grade from scored judges give
 10% of grade from job description
 10% of grade from peer evaluation

Kevin is in charge of getting warming trays from Olive Garden

Ed and Tom said that they needed help getting judges for the conference

Jen wants to make gift bags on April 19 from 1 to 2

Ryan presented parking signs
 Told to laminate signs in the first floor of TCOM building

Brian VanDerKeere inquired as to what would go on the conference web-site

Nick requested money that he would use to buy the coins for prizes

Discussed booklets
 Front of booklet will be the only thing in color

Everyone for conference has to be at the TCOM building at 6:30 A.M.
 Tables will be arriving at 7:30 A.M.

Gifts and Acquisitions is completely finished with gift bags

Booklet ads must be finished by tonight

Nick is in charge of printing off front pages for the booklet
