A Brief History About Myself

My name is Jeff Van Vactor and I was born on July 12, 1980.  I am currently enrolled in the 2003 class at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana where I am studying in the Telecommunications Department.  Prior to attending Ball State, I graduated in the 1999 class at Plymouth High School where I was proud to be the station manager of the school's broadcasting department.  While in the department, I learned how much I enjoyed editing and directing and knew that that was something that I wanted to be associated with when I got into the "real world".

My Philosophy on Life:

"Always try your hardest and never think that you are the best.  However good at something you are, there will always be someone out there that can surpass you.  Cockiness only gets you so many places, but knowledge will pass up anything.

  Hobbies and Interests
In my free time I enjoy all aspects of life, from sitting back and enjoying MTV to listening to my favorite musical group, the Dave Mattews Band.  During the week, I participate in a weekly news show at Ball State called Connections Live.  Connections Live takes a Dateline NBC approach to reporting by making the newscast not only an informative news source but also an interesting one.  Although I am not the director yet, I plan to be before I graduate and I know that I will do a good job.
Turning to my true love . . .motion pictures, motion pictures have always captivated me in the way that they can portray an assortment of emotions and feelings and squeeze them all into a period of two hours.  I want to be a film director in the future because I think it would be such a mind rush to be able to hold people's emotions in my hands. Looking at action movies such as Fight Club or The Matrix, the action pulls the viewers in but the story keeps them watching.  As in all movies, it is important to have a good story and back it up with an even better director, and I want to be that director that makes movies something to remember.
