Heidi's Cat

Heidi couldn't get rid of her puppies fast enough to suit her; But she kept the cat. ...The very young kitten seemed to have lost 8 out of 9--But the Kitten came to "Hi-De-Ho's" door instead of dropping dead, and it was a toss at mercy or suicide--because Heidi just had a litter of four right on the other side of the gate. I gave the poor kitten something to eat to see if it would survive, and it continued to haunt the doorstep barely able to move anyway. A few weeks later it looked like the Kitty was going to make it-- then the puppies started eating and the kitten charged in for dinner without even the thought of an invitation. Most of the time, coming near a mother and her young is certain death--especially for a cat charging in on dogs to take their food. But I guess they were used to each other and they got along fine--It's Heidi's cat not mine. Sometimes the kitty hides on a shelf and scratches me when I walk by. She scrathes Heidi, and heidi just walks on by and wags her tail and swats the Kitty. Kitty attacks me and bites me sometimes, but if she bites Heidi she gets licked by Heidi and it knocks the Kitty down.
