Winnie ther Pooh is a classic. He provides laughter by repeatedly showing his use of his very little brain. My favorite story of Winnie ther Pooh is "Pooh and the Honey Tree"
Pooh's name is Winnie-ther-Pooh instead of Winnie-the-Pooh because obviously -ther- shows that Pooh is a boy and -the- would only imply that he was a girl and we all know that is just wrong, like all the characters in the Hundred Acre wood, except of course for Kanga. But Pooh was not always called Winnie-ther-Pooh, no he wasn't. He was called Edward Bear. Weird huh?
How did the stories get written? I will tell you. Christopher Milne (better known as Christopher Robin) had a stuffed bear, tiger, pig, donkey, and others. It was Christopher Robin's mother, Daphne Milne, that had the idea of bringing the stuffed toys to life. So Christopher Robin's dad would tell Christopher Robin bedtime stories about Pooh's adventures with his friends. Then Christopher Robin would march up to bed with the railing sliding through one hand and Pooh in the other. That is how the stories got started, A. A. Milne just decided to write them down.
A. A. Milne wrote the original Pooh books--"Winnie-the-Pooh" in 1926 and "The House At Pooh Corner" in 1928. E. H. Shepherd illustrated the original Pooh books in black and white images, and he colored the images in the early 1970's.
A. A. Milne is the writer of all the Winnie-the-Pooh books. He was born in London on January 18, 1882. He worked at a magazine called "Punch" for a while. He married Daphne de Selincourt in 1913. He then went off to World War I. When he came back he didn't go back to the magazine, but he continued righting. In 1920, Christopher Robin Milne was born. A. A. Milne started writing childern's books and because of Christopher Robin's birth, Winnie-the-Pooh was born.
Ernest Howard is the illustrator of all the Winnie-the-Pooh books.
