'89 Demos - 1989 demo tape

Some songs very good, some songs not so good. The spoken word parts are a Spanish woman, translation included in liner of recording.

Secret Songs - C

I Am One is original SubPop single version. Bullet Train to Osaka is audible but not really great. Tristessa is an early version. In Tristessa, Honey Spider and Jackie Blue the music is much louder than the vocals. Purr Snickety is annoyingly crackly, hissy and extremely quiet but worth listening to. Delusions of Candor is actually Starchildren and it's not even audible. Apathy's Last Kiss sounds kind of funny. Never Let Me Down is very quiet.

Fishing Blue (a.k.a. Smashed) - '90-'91 - A-

First four tracks and second version of "Snail" are from Madison, Wisconsin 10/16/91. Tracks five through twelve are from Madison, Wisconsin, 06/16/90. "Fishing Blue" is from NYC, NY, 02/??/91. "Why Am I So Tired?" is the same version as on Earphoria and Vieuphoria except for it's a lot longer. Sounds pretty good.

Tribute to Boc - Cambridge, MA - 02/09/91 - 45 min.

Interview disc - ??/??/92 - 28 min.

Billy and Jimmy. Interviewer kind of hard to hear but the Pumpkins are not. Very good interview.

In Conversation - ??/??/92 - 50 min.

Billy only. Very clear sound, very cool interview. Right before last show of Gish tour.

The Great Pumpkin That Never Arrived - ??/??/93 - 30 min.

Interview with Billy and Jimmy from pre-/early-Siamese Dream era. The interviewer is a little hard to understand. Some tape hiss.

Earphoria - C

"Soundtrack" to Vieuphoria. Distorted sound (this is not a good copy, we are looking for a new one). Studio songs sound better than live songs.

First Infinite Sadness Show - Chicago, IL - 10/23/95

** The power goes out during the first attempt at Zero (second line of song). Band tries to keep the audience entertained. This was recorded off the radio so it has that and the interview at the beginning, which are not on the bootleg of this show more commonly found on CD.

Smashing Pumpkins on Rockline - 06/17/96

Billy and Jimmy. Quiet, annoying hiss, but interview is still very audible. Cuts off abrubtly, perhaps before end of interview.

Interview Sessions - Seattle - ??/??/96 - 38 min.

Billy and D'Arcy. Excellent sound. Audience asks questions, during Infinite Sadness Tour.

JJJ Interview - ??/??/96

** this song cuts off in the middle, and there is probably more interview after it. If anyone has a complete copy of this, we'd like it.

Audience asks Billy, Jimmy, D'Arcy, James and Jonathan Melvoin questions. Really quiet and kind of hissy. During Infinite Sadness Tour.

Reading Rock Festival - Reading, England - ??/??/96

**There is a few seconds of radio static in Disarm, but the rest is very clear.

Billy and James acoustic - Viper Room - Chicago, IL - 01/15/98

Before Adore was released. Last four songs performed by James only. This was a show less composed of fans because it was a secret show announced over the radio and the audience acts bored and rude; some restaurant noise but otherwise good audience recording.

Howard Stern - ??/??/98

** also not part of Howard Stern show

Billy and his girlfriend Yelena Yemchuk. Pretty good sound, kind of hissy. A few fans call and ask questions (and some make dumbass comments).

James Iha on Rockline - 04/??/98

* not included in this recording; released song

17 Seconds - Belgium - 05/28/98

Good clear quality audience recording. Performance is awesome. All songs are "rocked up" a bit. "Tonight, Tonight" is a folky version, only Billy & acoustic guitar. "Bullet With Butterfly Wings" has a 5 minute drum solo, it's a very...crowd-catching version of the song. Shame has a cool 1 minute intro.

Major Mix - 65 min.

Fox Theater - Atlanta, GA - 08/04/98 - 137 min.

encore
encore 2
** skips once or twice (still sounds very good)
*** skips so much it's hard to listen to

Once Upon a Time is just Billy and an acoustic guitar. 99x in Atlanta broadcast this concert from a soundboard recording four days later. The skipping is from being converted to Real Audio and then put on a tape, but we hope to replace this recording.
