2, McCormick's seasoning packets -- one "hot" and one "regular." 2 lbs. lean ground beef
2 cans DelMonte Italian-style stewed tomotoes 2 cans dark red kidney beans, drained (and rinsed if desired) |
Stir the contents of the packets into about 1/2 cup of water, set aside. Brown the beef in a lg skillet
(ground turkey, or half beef/half turkey would work, too). Drain the fat from the meat and stir in the stewed tomatoes
and the seasoning "concoction". Let that heat 'til bubbly, then gently stir in the kidney beans, and let
simmer for at least 20 minutes. I let it simmer for a good long time. :-) This recipe can be cooled and placed into
individual freezer containers (ziploc freezer bags, ie) for later use. To reheat them, just open a corner of the pouch,
place in a bowl, and microwave for about 7 or 8 minutes. Love it over rice or macaroni!-Douglas
