MTV's Total Request Live (TRL) world-premiered the Backstreet Boys' video for "The One" today which is really cool. It was basically a compilation of clips from the "Into the Millenium" tour footage and other appearances by the guys. Howie D. called in from Orlando. He said that the guys and he just got back from the Bahamas where they worked on some songs, and that they will soon fly to Europe.

About an hour after TRL, MTV aired an episode of ultrasound dedicated to the Backstreet Boys. They chronicled the early lives and successes of the guys. Topics discussed included Kevin's father's death, Brian's heart surgery, AJ's relationship with his father, Howie's sister Caroline's death from lupus, and Nick's thought son his mother.

The Backstreet Boys are endorsing an official book written about themselves. Titled BACKSTREET BOYS, the book's suggested retail price is $14.95 and is scheduled to go on sale nationwide on Tuesday, July 5, 2000.

"Backstreet Boys: The Official Book is the official book, from our perspective with our input," says Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean. "I think it is high time that we give back to our fans what they honestly deserve-which is to be closer to us and to be a part of our lives as much as we are a part of theirs."

The official Backstreet Band website has just been updated with some news. Here's what has been posted:
  • AJ is in the middle of his Johnny No Name tour.
  • The opening acts of Johnny are "Nobody's Angel", a 5 piece girl act, and of course, the great Mindi Abair.
  • Howie attended and performed at the first two Johnny No Name shows. AJ aka Johnny douced him with water onstage once, and Howie had nothing to change into. Poor Howie.
  • AJ recently had a press conference with the band and official tour mascot Guido for all the media including MTV and a lot of European press.
  • Johnny No-Name is not only thinking about recording an album in the next few months but he is also planning a European tour.
  • The band has added two new band members for Johnny No Name. Scott Hoffman is our new drummer and Matt Hagar is singing background vocals along with Mindi.
  • Contrary to rumours, AJ is NOT engaged. He was misquoted in the press. Although he feels very close to Amanda and hopes that she will turn out to be the one that he shares his life with, he feels that they are both too young to make a decision about getting married right now. They have no plans to do so in the immediate future. AJ says that he wants to settle down and have kids at some point, but not now.
  • AJ invited the band over to his new house in Orlando which has its own movie theater. AJ plans to build a studio there too.

I read an article about the Backstreet Boys in the February 2000 issue of 16 magazine. It said that the Backstreet Boys were so upset to find out that over 1200 tickets for their October 31, 1999 show in the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado were released to scalpers that they asked The House of Blues (the promoter for that particular show) to donate $75,000 to the Columbine College Fund. November 6, 1999

I love the New York Knicks. I used to live in New Jersey, and I watched them play all season. You're probably wondering why I'm talking about them in my Backstreet Boys' website. Well, the Knicks played the Pistons last night in Michigan, and the Backstreet Boys were the ones who had the honor of singing the National Anthem. Since one of my friends from Jersey knew how much I loved the Knicks, she called me this morning and told me all about the game. She also told me all about the Backstreet Boys' performance. This is what she said.....
"The Backstreet Boys sounded great. AJ has changed his haircolor once again. His hair is now bright red. It looks like the same color as the hair of 'N SYNC's Joey Fatone. He was wearing a cream colored tutleneck sweater and black carpenter pants. Nick's hair also changed. He got it cut, so it's shorter now. He and Brian sang most of the song. During the "the bombs bursting in air" part, fireworks went off. Everything was just awesome!
On top of that, the Knicks won! Yeah!

    November 1, 1999

The Backstreet Boys are going to be at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan on November 5, 1999. They will be singing the National Anthem for the Detroit Pistons game.
Thanks to Nicole for sending in this information.
