The Neck

The neck is one of the most important muscles when it comes to contact sports. These sports include football, wrestling, etc. By making the neck stronger, you are less prone to injury. The key is also to work the muscles that support the neck like the trapezius. One neat fact is that the neck is proabably the fastest growing muscle in your body! My necks grew 2 inches in 3 months just from exercises using the neck in football! I made this section to stress how important a strong neck is. There aren't many neck training machines out there, so I made this list. These are some exercises you can do to help make a strong neck...

  • Military Press - Lift barbell up and rest it on your shoulders. Lift it up as high as possible then lower it to starting position.

  • Shoulder Shrugs- hold weight with overhand grip while standing up. Shrug your shoulders up and don't move your arms.

  • With a partner, push your neck against his shin.

  • Upright Rows - Same as shrugs but only arms.
