Howl of the Lonely
Hear the howl of the lone female wolf
the loss of her mate is to intense to hide.
She knows not what has happened to him
just that he has not returned to her side.
The anguish she feels is hard for her to take
she has searched for him in vain.
The loss she feels is deep and wide
her lonely howls express her pain.
The connection between her and her mate
is one few humans can comprehend.
Unless they are placed in her tracks
and walk aimlessly thru this land.
The pack will surely suffer with her
and feel the depths of her emptyness.
The pups they created together
will surely know something i amiss.
Four long and hard years together
they had endured much in the wild
The litters of pups they raised
and nurtured as humans with a child.
To hear the lonely howl of the alpha female
and understand her suffering.
To hear her as she calls to her lost mate
and the echo in the stillness it brings.
