Princes Wrote Compassionate Notes To Heart Girl, 15

Princes William and Harry wrote messages of hope to a desperately ill girl when Diana, Princess of Wales, urged them to continue her good works, it has emerged.

The letters, revealed in the Mirror, are featured in a 60-minute TV documentary called The Unseen Diana, to be screened by ITV on August 31 - the anniversary of her death.

The princes' tender notes to 15-year-old heart patient Victoria Hemphill - neatly written in black pen - were sealed with kisses and sent in April 1997.

William, 16, told Victoria "we are all thinking of you" and sent one X. Harry, 13, wished they could take her on holiday and added a line of kisses.

Diana visited Victoria 15 times in four months at Harefield Hospital, Middlesex.

She told William and Harry of the Londonderry girl's fight to beat a heart defect. She has spent most of her life in hospital and is back in care.

Victoria said: "I was very touched to get the letters from Wills and Harry - especially with the kisses.

"The princess was a great friend. I hope one day to meet the boys."

Victoria, from Limavady, Co Londonderry, keeps her royal keepsakes on her bedside table.

Alongside a signed picture of Diana are the handwritten letters from the princes on blue Kensington Palace-headed notepaper in two identical blue envelopes.
