Welcome to Arlow Cains' Discography
';Most of these recordings are ancient and poorly recorded........just the right recipe for cult status. The more recent material is most definitely up to snuff. While the earlier stuff reflects trial and error production with inferior musical ability, the evolution can be duly noted (as the budget went up) to the present, where experienced fingers are not only on the analog and digital mixing boards but also on the instruments. The best time to listen to these would be when there are absolutely no interruptions. We suggest bedtime with headphones. Don't forget to check out the 5th installment of the Wave. It comes from the latest realease of "Sects" and is entitled "FAMILY MAN". Lyrics do not appear in this mix. Feel free to critique the music and the website in an e-mail. Constructive critisism is welcome.
Discography
- THIS IS EASY READIN' AND INFORMATIVE. DON'T FORGET TO GO TO THE ORDER PAGE
- THE BEATITUDES (pronounced beat'-a-tudes) Effort #1 of Arlows' music. This solo work shows the frailty of the new found craft. So much can go so wrong,.... and did on this recording. But the music is heartfelt. Since Arlow was playing all the instruments, the idea came to him to give each instrument a persona. Thus, Frontman/Keyboardist Myk Cloyes, Bassist Sneak, Lead Guitarist Chad Coyote and Percussionist Prism team up on this effort to explore such diversity as Beatniks meet Sabbath to Barry Manilow. One tune on here is penned by his mother. For the true fan.
- MAN WITH A MISSION-More comfortable in the producers chair although hardly more proficient, Arlow slams 12 songs onto this one. Almost half are instrumentals, three of the others are Larry Norman and Randy Stonehill covers. The 80's begin to shine through in this one. Arrangements and orchestration make this one a bit more pallatable. You'll find some of these sticking in your mind.If only digital recording had been affordable then. Hiss and humm are literal buzz words. Defined originality.
- EXCERPTS FROM AN UNFINISHED PROJECT-Experiences shape ideas in music on these that never made it. or have they? There seems to be a little more confidence in the lead guitar work. and rightly so. This recording features a Fender Coronado II on loan from a friend (as well as the first tune...different friend). This one includes heavy stuff, ballads and Partridge Family cover. All bases touched
- LIVE IN MY LIVINGROOM-Join Arlow in an impromptu adventure. Tuning, trivia and lottsa fun. (What's he doing in the background?) Forgetting chords and words, he ventures where he's never been and bares his soul to whosoever glances. Some familiar covers. Get to know him on this rare recording. Comes complete with a major edit right in the middle of one of the songs.
- DYIN' TRYIN'-Truer words have never been spoken. Arlow pulls out all the stops, yea, even changes the words from a tune off of The Beatitudes and includes it here as a love song. The music begins to get more challenging at this point in his discography but he's still plagued by the dreaded low budget.
- BROKEN SPIRITS-Arlow joins forces with the drummer from his old band Repeat Offenders, Bobby Suffron and newcomer bassist Phil Roudeski to form the band this recording is named for. Lottsa Keith Green covers and an original, this takes place live in Bobbys' basement and is produced by Ikseduor Lihp. It sounds better than the others up to this point 'cause he had a lot more cooler stuff. The powerful yet sensitive hands of Bobby on drums and the eloquent backing vocals and bass work of Phil compliment Arlows keyboards and lead vocals superbly. Easy to listen to.
- LIVE DOWN THE PIKE- (Video) Picture about 100 people crowded around Arlow at the piano in a small bar in West Carrolton, Ohio, clapping in a frenzy and erupting into a roar of applause at the end of FREE BIRD. It was the best performance of his life. Too bad he didn't get it on video. That is what happened the 1st time he played there. This video is the SECOND time he played there. Hardly any of the same people showed up and 2 couples that had no idea or concern that this was on video sat right beneath the microphone, so it sounds like everybodys talkin while Arlow's playing, but its only them. (I noticed their girlfriends were trying to listen) Cameo appearances by Arlows' mother and some of his friends. Vintage stuff here. Added on are the 3 music videos from Arlows' Home Videos which feature the Fender Coronado II. See Arlow with hair.
- SECTS-Want people to hear what you say? Say somthing people want to hear. Yes, the homonym is intentional. But also genuine. The question is real: Are we one? If so, why the division? The answer is explored microscopically and telescopically. On the personal and on the global. But alas, Sects sells.
