Chapter 9

Lissa woke early the next morning and slid out of bed. She changed back in to her travelers clothes, and ran her brush through her hair, clipping it back in a pin. She wanted to try and be on her way to Temera before the Mystic Knights awoke, but peeking out her window to the castle courtyard, she saw that was not to be. Rohan, Angus, and Ivar stood in the courtyard, chatting. She gathered her things up, and headed outside.
"Good morning,Lissa!" Rohan called out cheerfully when he saw her.
Ivar smiled and nodded towards her.
Angus blushed slightly and looked down at his breakfast.
She nearly laughed.
"Are you hungry? Its probably not quite palace food, but.." Rohan held a basket of berries and bread toward her.
She set her things down. It wouldn't hurt just to stay for a bit and have breakfast. Besides, she was very hungry. She accepted the basket. "Quite alright,Rohan. Truth be told, palace food isn't all its cracked up to be. All those sauces and things.." Lissa wrinkled her nose.
Angus looked up. "Sounds like paradise to me!"
Rohan laughed. "That's just cause your always hungry, Angus!"
Angus shrugged. "So? I'm a growing knight.."
They all laughed.
"Talking about Angus and his endless appetite?" A new voice called out. Garrett was walking toward them.
Angus made a face at him.
Lissa giggled. "So. When does Deirdre usually arise?," She asked.
Rohan shrugged. "Usually not long after us.,"
Lissa nodded. The men walked over to chat with some of the warriors about the surprise attack King Chonhobar had ordered. Something fluttered near Lissa's ear.
"Deirdre can stay in bed all day for all I care!," A little voice piped.
Lissa smiled at the fairy, who she had met the day before. "Now, Aideen. Why so grumpy?,"
Aideen rested on Lissa's knee and looked up at her. "Grumpy? I'm not grumpy. I just don't like Deirdre.,"
Lissa laughed. There were not many fairies where she was from, so Lissa wasn't sure how they acted. Being around Aideen though, she had found out they acted just like humans. They ate, they had feelings.
Lissa leaned down toward the fairy. "I see. And this feeling wouldn't happen to be because of a certain tall, handsome Mystic Knight, would it?,"
Aideen looked as close to blushing as a fairy was possible, Lissa supposed. "No! I just..I just..,"
Lissa grinned. "Yes?,"
Aideen put her little hands on her hips. "I just don't like her is all! Please excuse me, Lissa. I must go..do something.," Aideen fluttered off, leaving Lissa laughing after her.
Lissa looked around. She would miss this place. Everyone was so friendly. Lissa's thoughts drifted. Maybe she could stay..for awhile, anyway. The knights could surely use her help… Lissa shook her head. 'Don't think such things,' She chided herself. 'You have a kingdom of your own to return to!,' Lissa looked at Angus, who smiled shyly at her. It was certainly tempting though….
