Chapter 14

by: Melissa

Lissa walked slowly back to Kells. After she could no longer see her sister's castle, Lissa sunk to the ground. Of all the things she had done in her young life..that HAD to have been the scariest. She sat cross legged on the ground for a second, just pulling herself together. She had just pulled herself together when…
"LISSA!"
She jumped up and whirled around, prepared for a fight. She took a look at her 'opponent'..and burst out laughing. "Aideen! What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be back with the others?"
The fairy looked a bit shame faced. "Well…I didn't go back with them. I stayed."
Lissa raised an eyebrow. "I see. Even after I asked you to go?"
Aideen nodded. "Yes. Please don't be angry! I was scared Maeve would hurt you."
Then Aideen's eyes widened appreciatively. "I must say though, you put that evil women in her place you did!"
Lissa tried to keep a straight face, but all the events of the day had taken their toll, and she burst in to laughter. "Oh,Aideen! Come, I promised Angus I would be back before nightfall.,"

Angus paced nervously at the castle. It was almost nightfall, and there had been no sign of Lissa.
Rohan looked at him sympathetically. "Please, Angus. Come sit. You'll make yourself sick pacing like that! I'm sure Lissa is alright.. its not nightfall yet."
Deirdre stood. "Yes. Rohan's right. Did you see how Lissa destroyed that lock on the dungeon? I somehow don't think she's a 'normal' person."
Angus barely glanced at her. "She may have power, but Maeve has the dark forces working in her favor."
Ivar, who had been silent the whole time, suddenly stood. "Look!"
Angus turned around… and his face split in to a huge grin. Coming towards him was Aideen….. and Lissa! With a cheer, he rushed forward. Lissa spotted him too late and had only enough time to squeak as he gathered her up in his arms and swung her around.
"Lissa! I was so worried!" She hugged his neck as the rest of the knights ran to surround them.
"Lissa! Did you defeat Maeve?," Deirdre asked, trying to avoid being smushed by Rohan and Ivar.
Lissa laughed and motioned for Angus to set her down. "If you will all give me a second to catch my breath, I shall tell you everything." They nodded. Lissa sat down on a rock, Aideen perched near her shoulder. It was quiet….for about three seconds.
"Okay. You caught your breath. Now, tell us what happened!" Garrett demanded.
Lissa rolled her eyes. "Oh, alright."

"And so, I told Maeve that I was not going to fight her at that moment, but that I would fight beside the Mystic Knights until she left the people of Kells alone."
The four knights looked on in amazement as she told her story. "And she let you go?"
Lissa giggled. "She really didn't have much choice. I dematerialized, then put myself in the forest just away from Temera."
Angus looked thoughtful. "Hey, you said you were going to fight beside us until Mauve left Kells alone. Does that mean your staying?" He looked hopeful.
Lissa took his hand. "Well..yes. If you all will have me."
Angus jumped up, pulling her to her feet. "I vote we take a vote, and I vote yes!"
They all laughed.
"I second that." Rohan said, smiling at his friends happiness.
"I third it." Ivar chimed in.
"I fourth it!" Garrett said.
Lissa looked at Deirdre. "And you?"
Deirdre looked around, then smiled. "It will be nice to have another girl around to talk with.."
Lissa beamed. "Wonderful!"
Aideen flew excitedly around in circles.
Lissa gave Deirdre a hug, then turned back to Angus. "So. Angus. Since it seems I'll be staying here for awhile, how about you give me a tour of Kells?"
Angus smiled and held his arm out. "I'd be delighted, my lady." She giggled and took his arm. They walked out the palace gate and headed out toward the villages.
Garrett sidled over to Deirdre. "Hey, whats this about needing another girl around to talk to? You can talk to me about anything!"
Deirdre gave him a look. "Not..everything.."
She headed toward the castle, Garrett following. "What can't you talk to me about? Deirdre? Deirdre!"
Rohan and Ivar looked at each other. "Well. I still say my tridents better than you sword!"
Rohan raised an eyebrow. "Oh,really! Aideen, can you throw plates for us again? I think my friend her hasn't learned his lesson yet!"
Aideen looked at Rohan from where she had been watching Lissa and Angus walk off. She wished that were her and Rohan… "What? Oh! Yes,Rohan." She flitted down to him. Someday…..
