Chapter 12
by: Melissa
Maeve glared down the hall at her younger sister. She was taken aback at first. Lissa looked very much like their father. She quickly pulled herself together.
"You! You dare to enter my castle! You shall regret returning..little sister." Maeve slowly stepped toward her.
Lissa smiled. Her arm raised.
Maeve gasped. Her ram's head scepter!
Lissa backed up, her smile spreading.
"GIVE THAT BACK!" Maeve roared.
Lissa turned and ran.
Maeve scowled. She turned to the Knights. "I'll return to you later!" She ran off after Lissa.
The Knights watched as Maeve chased Lissa around the hall and out of site.
Angus bit his lip. "I hope she knows what she's doing."
A soft voice came from the other end of the hall. "I assure you, Angus. I know exactly what I'm doing."
The Knights jumped about fifty feet in the air. Then they all broke in to wide grins.
"Lissa!" Ivar exclaimed.
Lissa smiled. "I see your stating the obvious now,Ivar."
He laughed. She approached the prison.
Angus peered out at her through the bars. "Its good of you to come save us, Lissa. But I'm afraid you efforts are futile. We have no key to open the door."
Lissa looked at Angus. She sighed softly. It looked like her secret would be revealed after all. She patted Angus's hand. "Don't worry, Angus. I need no key."
As the Knights watched in shock, Lissa raised her hand. A bolt of light came from her fingertips, and the lock fell off. The door flipped open, and the Knights burst out.
"Come on!" Rohan called. They ran out through the castle.
Once outside, the Knights quickly took shelter behind a line of stacked up rocks.
While the others discussed the next plan of action, Angus leaned toward Lissa. "How did you do that?" He questioned.
Lissa smiled. "Maeve isn't the only one that dwells in the realm of magic. Unlike her though, I only use mine for good."
He grinned. "Glad to hear that. But I'm curious. How can you be in two places at once?"
Lissa laughed. "The figure Maeve was chasing wasn't me. It was an image, conjured up my our little fairy friend."
Angus smiled. "Aideen."
Lissa nodded. "Speaking of, I hope she's alright."
As Lissa spoke, Aideen came flitting around the rock, giggling. "We did it,Lissa! You were right!"
Lissa smiled up at her. "Well. You deserve a lot of the credit, Aideen. If it wasn't for you, I couldn't have pulled it off."
Aideen smiled modestly. "Well…"
Lissa and Angus laughed.
Rohan knelt beside them. "Sorry to break up this happy interlude, but I think Maeve's figured out she was chasing a image."
Lissa peered over the rock. Her sister stood, anger on her face. "Uh oh.."
