Mystic Knights Fan Fiction - Stones Unturned

Stones Unturned

Overhead, the morning sky--an ocean of deep blue light, a flotilla of puffy -thick, white , low-hanging clouds quickly parade over our floating passengers of Kells. Onboard one of the vessels of the Royal Fleet---sixty-foot, two-masted sailing ship, on its bow--the familiar red-gold royal bird seal. The ship slices through the choppy waves, and the salty sea breeze make the sails swell with Royal Kell pride.

Princess Deirdre bitten by the urge to sail the high seas, decides she will be the first princess to navigate a boat carrying military supplies from a nearby island supplier to Kell soldiers at the outposts along the coast. After all she is a princess and a warrior.

Her father King Conchobar, is concerned about her venturing out into the ocean's unknown dangers, but he knows it is futile to argue with her, when she has her mind set on something. He usually resigns, waving his hands of surrender, but to be sure of her safety, he would rely upon Ivar to keep a watchful eye on her. Not knowing that this time, Ivar spending time with the princess, is the last thing he needs or wants. But he complies, dragging Rohan and Angus along for the mission--the Mystic Knights to escort and protect the vessel's precious cargo from any surprised attacks launched by Temrans or other sea invaders as well as to create a buffer between Ivar and Deirdre because of a recent rift in their relationship.

"Okay the jib is up and the minoa needs to be raised. I'll go back there," pointing to the wheel and "come around portside!"Deirdre beaming--her red hair blowing up and back, the sunlight on it--like flickering flames. She takes command of the ship.

Angus looks over at Ivar--arms folded over his chest leaning against the mast with a sour-pussed expression, eyebrow arched staring at the princess. Angus saunters over to him with eyes raised to the sky remarks,"Ah, nothing like the open seas to CAST YOUR FATE, eh Ivar?" Needling him, knowing that Destiny has placed a shocking revelation at Ivar's feet with the Puzzle Box opened and the identity of the ring wearer--his Ring of Destined Union.

Ivar responds quietly, barely audible commenting,"I believe my FATE....did its own CASTING...and pulled out a FISH that I for one...did not expect!" Looking with side glances at Deirdre and her hand--his ring not worn. His lips pursed, listening to her explain to Rohan confidently, all the nautical pro- cedures makes Ivar even more annoyed, knowing that it was the other Ivar, that taught her everything. "The other Ivar!" Ivar thinking to himself seeing and hearing in his memory--Deirdre's laughter, shared moments with the other Ivar-- through the crystal and Aideen's empathic memory--the real Ivar knowing that she wanted to share everything intimately with him--the Ivar that he knows he cannot be. He knows that all that happened between them must now end, put it behind him, relieved that there is now a way to conceal their affair in the grotto by putting it on the other Ivar. All he has to do is play his role as supervisor and family friend to Kell's royal family, especially to King Conchobar. Ivar is taken by King Conchobar's approach to rulership, having a chance to observe two different men in rulership---one who wears the kingship with unwavering command, the other always examining and reevaluating his strengths and weaknesses equally and relying on his inner strength, compassion and cooperation to rule his kingdom.

Ivar has had many private chats concerning the difficulty of balancing rulership with parenthood. He understands how abruptly the king's life changed with the death of Deirdre's mother, having little time for personal grief and how to deal with political defects--his Commanding Captain of the Guards--Tork, maintaining political stability in alliances.Ivar's growing respect for the king is also evident in that he can open up to the king about anything. He does not want to do anything to jeopardize this friendship. What is best for the king and Kells are the deciding factors. "This is the way it must be, in time Deirdre will forget what took place in the grotto, she will. Plenty of Kells find her attractive--Garret, Angus, Rohan. This DESTINY is WRONG!! The ORACLE is WRONG!! I would feel this is the right path and I just cannot do this to the king, Deirdre or Kells. They could not possibly accept." Ivar convincing himself as he watches Deirdre talking animately to both Angus and Rohan.

It has been a week since the whole mess with Maeve and her Ivar enchantment wrought havoc on his life. They have done irreparable damage to his relation- ship with Deirdre, she only talks with him in the presence of the other knights around the Royal Court and Chieftain meetings. She would look at him and treat him as if he is a visiting royal guest of her father's, displaying royal courtesies, no longer her confidante. The other knights too notice the wall that has been put up between them, all due to Maeve. Rohan knows this cannot go on this way because it will ultimately affect the Mystic Knights. He tries to engage Ivar by asking him questions regarding the different sails, pushing him to join him with Deirdre. Ivar masking his discontent complies explaining some sailing skills to the others. Suddenly he abruptly stops and senses energy nearby the ship, jumping and running to the wheel turning sharply portside, yells to Deirdre,"Get the ropes, come around! WATCH THE BOOM! Before the turn is complete, water bubbles rise up to the surface quickly and a giant man-o-war jellyfish-like creature's tentacle latches itself to one of the ship's masts. The knights scream to each other "Let's call our armor!" The transformation complete, Rohan comes forward with his Sword of Kell's shooting directly at the center of the mast, to break the creature's grip of tightly-wound tentacles, while Angus used his Terra Mace, creating large boulders pounding the center--gelatinous mass--its head.

The creature defends itself--releasing harpoons of blue energy at them.

With Deirdre pulling the ropelines and trying to maintain a steady course, Ivar shoots his barbed trident from the stern all along the perimeter and tentacles of the creature.FLAP!!! One of the ties of the rigging on the main jib loosens, sending a whipping wind punching through the sails, making the vessel lose speed and uneven lurching through the choppy waters, sending Angus and Rohan, reeling backwards into Ivar, making his trident miss its target.

Ivar screams out more instructions to Deirdre, but she is overwhelmed, trying to use her Whirlwind Crossbow and handle the ship. He jumps over grabbing her by the waist with one hand and yanks the ropes out of hers, pushing her hard out of the way. The princess miffed continues to battle the creature, while Ivar takes action to compensate for the crippling sails.

Finally Rohan screams" Shoot for the eyes together!" All training their weapons on the target, with blinding light of energy discharging, collectively, the creature disintegrates, exploding back under the waves.

"THAT WILL SHOW YOU MONSTER!!!", Angus shouting out, shaking his armored fist at the water, looking back.

Rohan looks around surveying damage, but the cargo remained intact and now the home of Kells is in their sight.

The churning sea returns once again to calmness, when seemingly out of the blue a new sea battle erupts onboard...Deirdre storming over to Ivar explodes at him,"HOW DARE YOU RIP THE ROPES LIKE THAT OUT OF MY HANDS!!! I KNEW...WHAT I WAS DOING!!!" Looking up defiantly at him.

Ivar's eyes narrow and his voice raises into a loud tirade shouting,"If you knew...what YOU WERE DOING...I WOULD NOT HAVE TO TAKE CONTROL OF THE SHIP!!! LOOK...AT...THE ...JIB!!! TORN IN SEVERAL PLACES!!! WHY? BECAUSE YOU DIDN'T DOUBLE SECURE THE RIGGING. YOU LET THE SIDES GO AND YOU CALL THAT WRAPPING THE RIGGING CABLES TIGHTLY!!! YOU...CALL.....THAT..TIGHTLY???" Ivar booming, finger pointing at the sails and then glaring down at her, "YOU ..CALL.. YOURSELF...A SAILOR!! WELL! THE OTHER IVAR TAUGHT YOU WELL DIDN'T HE!! EXCEPT YOU TWO WERE NOT SO BUSY ON SAILING SKILLS, WERE YOU?" Ivar with folded arms, his towering form staring down at her. Deirdre is confused about Ivar knowing about the other Ivar teaching her sailing.

Angus interrupts remarks, "LAND HO! Save this battle until we are on shore! I want to get my feet on dry land in one piece!"

Ivar turns away saying, "Right away, Angus!" Ivar back at the helm steering effortlessly into the island inlet and drops anchor. "I'll take care of mooring lines and secure everything. Take the cargo, you and Rohan can handle it on your own?" Ivar calming down talking to Rohan while Deirdre has her back turned to both of them, fuming with hands on her hips.

Some Kell soldiers appear coming to the shore to help unload the ship, waving and smiling. All onboard the royal vessel put on their public masks returning smiles, good cheer unloading much needed supplies for the raging battles against Temrans.

Ivar talking with Kell soldiers onboard about the creature the Mystic Knights have just defeated, the Kell soldiers react,"Queen Maeve...she's really trying to break us...our men won't go near...the shoreline, because of the beasts that witch creates! Thanks Ivar, the Mystic Knights have been a big help to us. But we could sure use more ships out there, more trained reinforcements along our outpost's borders...and along the shoreline!" One of the younger field officers blurts out complaining, showing frustration.

Sympathetic, knowing what it's like out in the field, Ivar placing his hand on the young officer's shoulder remarks, " I know how it is, I will personally take your grievances to the king and see what we can do to give you men maximum support!"

With broad smiles and a nod, the Kell soldiers feeling they are being appreciated extend warm, farewell handshakes to him.

Angus taps Rohan's shoulder saying, "Uh Rohan..I think I'll stay behind with Ivar and give Prince Sunshine my special brand of brotherly fight to knock the anger out of him!"

Rohan looks at Angus, then over his shoulder at Ivar, then back at Angus and nods commenting, "Good idea, but go easy on him! Ivar has had a rough time! I'll take Deirdre before she draws her sword on him!"

Everything unloaded, Rohan and Deirdre jump down and head back up the beach leaving Ivar and Angus behind. Ivar surveying jib damage looks at Angus standing there saying,"Go ahead Angus, I'll handle this by myself." Ivar continuing his inspection. Angus folding his arms and walking slowly over to Ivar, "Look here your Royal Highness, Prince of Bad Moods...you're getting on everyone's case, especially Deirdre's. She's very sensitive over certain things, you going off at her isn't right. WE KNOW YOU'RE ANGRY! You've been knocked about pretty hard lately by Maeve...but that's no reason to TAKE IT OUT ON US! Look..I also know that the other Ivar messed things up, but he's gone now. What is done is done...but I don't think it's about him...it is about YOU and DEIRDRE! How you really FEEL about her. You see Ivar...I've been watching you two very closely, you can fool others but not me. Something has been going on for some time now, the way she has been looking at you, prior to the switch. You two are involved with each other and that is why you are so angry. If it was just Maeve's enchantment Ivar, you wouldn't be reacting this way! The REAL STORY is that you have real feelings and the ring sets you off because YOU ARE SCARED! THAT'S RIGHT SCARED TO TRUST YOUR FEELINGS or even try to fight for her because you know you don't have what it takes to follow through!" Angus setting him up.

Ivar glares at Angus, "You..do not know...what you are talking about, Deirdre and I are...were...just friends. There is nothing between us and there never will be. My future is not with her!!"Ivar stating matter-of-factly, masking the truth.

Angus squints his eyes remarks, "Don't give me that, you think me fool? Don't answer that! You have something going on maybe you tried to woo her but she turned you down, it hurt your ego to be rejected like Garret!" Angus pre- tending anger, getting Ivar worked up.

Ivar gritting his teeth while working on wrapping the jib comments, "Leave ...it..alone, Angus! There isn't ANYTHING GOING ON!!"His voice raising with every word.

Angus lying to him, "You were seen, that's it..you wanted an affair .. it's all over the castle and um...you came to her and tried to be the big hero .. thinking you can win her! You were all over her!"

Ivar's eyes widen and then thought he might have been spied on and fearful, "Nothing is further..I was never like that.SWEET LUGH! You know nothing...about what you are talking about! I do not want...to fight you...Angus, SO LEAVE!"

Angus knows Ivar is about to go into fight mode,"YOU ATTACKED HER DIDN'T YOU! THAT IS WHY SHE WOULDN'T TALK TO YOU!"

Ivar stood up enraged screaming, "AARGH!!!HOW DARE YOU ACCUSE ME OF SUCH A THING!! "Ivar lunging at Angus, both wrestling and rolling around on the boat's deck floor, pounding each other with such fury. Ivar shouting, then spouting and blurting out,"IT..WAS..THE OTHER WAY AROUND, SHE CAME TO ME...IN THE GROTTO AND..." Then Ivar realizing he was being set up, stopped fighting , breathing hard and rubbing his jaw,"OH...SO THIS IS HOW...YOU GO ABOUT IT!!" Ivar scowling up at Angus busily dusting himself off, looking down at Ivar with his tongue pushing the inside of his right cheek, half-grinning,"Yep...feeling better my friend? Rohan and I do this all the time, getting it all out!"

Ivar tired, supported by his leaning elbows in back of him on the deck floor, resigns looking at his friend,"I...I guess so, I'm sorry, I don't know what just came over me...how to deal with all this.. it's like a giant wall coming down on me--Maeve, Tork, my chalice, my ring, Deirdre. I know I shouldn't have kept this bottled, but I just didn't know what to do with it all. Deirdre hasn't spoken to me for over a week. We're like strangers now, I know it's the 'other me' she wanted, perhaps she wanted to do away with me, after all!"

"Ivar..what happened in the grotto?Tell me... if I'm to help you!"Angus showing concern.

Ivar uncertain saying,"How do I know I can trust you and ...you won't go running off to the king?" Ivar scrutinizing Angus very closely.

Angus purses his lips, shaking his head gesturing with his hands excitedly, pointing to himself," Do..I..look..like someone who obeys Kells laws and rules Ivar? Oh yea, Kells upstanding citizen, after sitting in jail cells!" Angus smirking and laughing to himself.

Ivar going with his gut, starts opening up saying,"It just happened...it shouldn't have..but things got out of control, believe me Angus, neither one of us..we couldn't have expected anything like this to happen, we are friends, really good friends. I wasn't in my right mind, otherwise...I would not have LET IT HAPPEN, but she...."Ivar lifting his eyes at him. Just as he is to come clean, a tall, broad-shouldered, bearded man wearing a helmet and the royal colors of Kells--King's Conchobar's royal guardsman appears onboard announcing,"The King summons you both to meet with him and the chieftains, I am sent to collect you!"

Angus grits his teeth with annoyance, just when he was so close to getting Ivar to fess up about what is going on..and Ivar relieved that he is saved by this intrusion states,"Yes,I'm ready !"Jumping up, "Let's go Angus!" Ivar looking slyly at him, knowing he will be on his guard now.

Back at Conchobar's Castle, the Mystic Knights arrive and the king's chieftains along with the king are all arguing."Good you are all here!"The king marching hurriedly sitting down at the table."There are reports of many attacks along the coastal villages and shore-line outposts!"

Ivar jumping right in stating,"Your Majesty, forgive me..but the situation for Kell's outposts along the coasts are for serious concern! I just finished talking with your field officers, there have been repeated assaults by Maeve's creatures and Temran soldiers on the eastern and western coastlines, they definitely are in dire need of more reinforcements in the way of weapons, trained crew and ships to patrol the areas. I also have learned that there have been many soldiers weaken due to lack of food supply and feel that they are not getting the kind of support they need. I know battles are suppose to make young boys into men but they need to know their king and chieftains care and appreciate them too."

The chieftains and the king, glance at each other then look squarely at Ivar. Ivar feeling their eyes, "Your Majesty, I'm sorry.....I just forgot my place," nodding,"But I feel it is necessary for you to know, as someone who has been out on the frontlines for many homeland battles...what the conditions are like ."

The king nods slowly remarks,"I understand Ivar, what are your suggestions?"

As Ivar begins, he senses a foreign energy presence, he gestures with his finger to keep silent, Ivar keeps talking then getting up walking towards a chest acting like he isn't aware of what's happening, scooping up a nearby brass vase, quickly slamming it down on a bogie, "Got you! You little spy!" But when Ivar picks up the vase, all that remains is a green puddle. Ivar humpfs commenting,"They're fast.. Maeve's little bogies, must do something about ridding us of these devious creatures from the Throne Room!"

The king and chieftains stare at each other with surprise, along with Angus, Deirdre and Rohan expressing amazement as Ivar walks back to the table. He sticks out his hands in front , then back and finally to the sides before sitting down, saying,"It's gone now! Probably back to Temra to report to Maeve!" Ivar then explains his strategy pointing at the the map of the island, presenting ideas intriguing the chieftains."The Mystic Knights can set up an operation base here, then we can assess the areas most vulnerable, then provide rotational assistance, assigned to different posts. Getting supplies to the posts--critical..there should be a field officer who can go and get a list from each Kell outpost--sending supplies under day cover, along with guards disguised as peasants or peddlers, completely armed."

The meeting concludes with chieftains and the king discussing Temra and Cathbad's accessment of Maeve's sorcery strategies. All are in agreement about obtaining ships and training when Princess Deirdre jumps in stating," I would like to help find and evaluate shipbuilders from nearby islands so that they can work together with us. Know exactly what we need. Also Temra has been building wooden structures to hold more ships, increasng their fleet to expand their kingdom's holdings to other islands. Maeve has been evaluating the performances of different kinds of vessels for battle and sea-worthiness, we must do the same!"

The chieftains give quick glances to another and then to the king. He knowing his daughter's personal interest in sailing commenting,"Fine Deirdre, you can find out and give us a report!" As the meeting ends and others begin to leave the throne room, the king calls to Ivar, "Oh Ivar, please remain behind!"

Ivar thinks to himself, "Oh you've done it this time about interrupting the king or could it be about Deirdre?"Starting to feel a knot in his stomach.

The other knights look at each other and leaving the throne room Angus bends close to Rohan whispering, "I was right! Something did happen between her and Ivar. Get this Deirdre was the one!" Angus eyes widening in shock with Rohan looking at him sideways thinking and watching Deirdre departing the hallway talking to a chieftain. Walking into the courtyard, Angus continues,"I almost found out, he was going to spill but the king's guard showed up! A..arrgh!" Gritting his teeth and punching his fist into his other hand.

Back inside the king sits back down and the Chief Commander of the Guards is also with him commenting,"Ivar, we are impressed with your presentation and your concern for Kells' younger soldiers, so we are appointing you to head up the Field Officer Detail Program, as Batallion Liasion Officer for the Chieftains. What say you? Are you up for the mission?"

Ivar stunned and really excited a post in the king's command with the role of supervisor, something he can cut his teeth on states," I will be honored to serve Kells' Chieftains Your Majesty, anything to make Kells' strong and victorious over that witch..Maeve!" Ivar hitting his fist on the table, thinking about her possession of his kingdom's chalice!

The king's commanding chieftain,"While you are at the outposts, you are to train others in your warrior skills, displayed last week in the Courtyard. The officers need to see and hear what you demonstrated, maybe picking up a few of them to strengthen Kells against Temra.

Ivar standing proudly stating, "I will make your soldiers into an unstoppable, strong fighting team, the Temrans will not know what hit them!" Ivar grinning to both of them.

"This is good, welcome to the Chieftains Advisory Council Ivar!"The king nodding to him and the chieftain also nodding and smiling,"Dismissed Mystic Knight!" With Ivar bowing and beaming, as he leaves the Throne Room.

The king turns to his chieftain and remarks, "Well, I think we can take on new blood into our group, even though it is not Kells'. He's young, politically astute, enthusiastic with new warrior skills. I think he will be an asset to us all, and since he will not be ascending his kingdom's throne anytime soon, he is looking for an ambassadorship, working with us will give him good experi- ence." The chieftain agreeing.

Inside Maeve's dark corridor near the wall-mounted gold, celtic-knotwork sculptured head, Tork grumbles to a nearby stationed guard and remarks,"She will not be pleased!" The queen arriving and standing by her strategy table asking, "What news do you have regarding the Kell ship on the western coast, my creature shipwreck them?" Maeve looking smug. Tork lowers his ram-shaped helmet saying, "No, My Queen...Mystic Knights were onboard and destroyed the creature! I'm afraid I have more bad news, Conchobar and the Chieftains along with the knights had a meeting concerning ships needed for protection.

Maeve bristles and hisses, "Don't..tell...ME...THIS!! THOSE MYSTIC KNIGHTS AGAIN!!!"Her voice raising with fury. "I thought Prince Ivar and the Princess would be unable to work together, after the affair and my Ivar! Once again, I have underestimated BOTH OF THEM AGAIN!!" Maeve pacing back and forth. "Find out what you can about the area shipbuilding activity, one in particular. I wish to know about one from Ivar's homeland--his dead love's--Findar's family --Master Shipbuilder for his royal family's fleet, owner of one of the largest shipping empires. I have a plan..yes... I may know how to destroy Kells and Prince Ivar at the same time!"Maeve's eyes brightening.

Back at the Courtyard at Conchobar's Castle...Ivar comes out strutting like a peacock with arms swinging side-to-side with a huge grin on his face. He catches up to the other knights who waited for him to find out about the king's private meeting.

"Well?" Angus looking coyly at him.

Ivar pointing to himself stating, "You are looking at the new Royal Field Officer--Batallion Liasion Officer for Kells' Chieftains Advisory Council. Your Father appointed me Deirdre..to head up Kells' military field's training program to teach your soldiers the energy sensing and warrior skills I've obtained!" Ivar bursting with pride.

Deirdre looking at him with some jealousy and annoyance remarks, "Wonderful! Perhaps you'll yank the poles out of their hands as well!" Deirdre miffed and walks away.

Rohan and Angus watching her leave, Angus glances over at Ivar,"Ivar, you wounded the princess. You have to try kiss and make up."Angus smiling and winking at him, referring to the conversation on the ship.

Rohan interrupts showing enthusiastic support, "That's great Ivar, maybe you can help us gain the soldiers' trust in the Mystic Knights. They are a wee bit wary, that lot!"

"I know Rohan. This post will give me the opportunity to make in-roads for us. That discussion in the throne-room regarding rotational patrols, was to establish an operational base for us--Mystic Knights Strategic Operation Program. You will work with me on accessing what Kell soldiers need out in the battlefield. I will handle the political arm of the military--a liasion between the field officers and the King's armchair warriors." Ivar putting his arm on Rohan's shoulder.

Deirdre pushes the wooden door of her chamber hard, marching in, looking up at the high ceiling trying to contain her anger. Reaching her canopied bed --dark, wooden oak support frames with gold knotwork-patterned design decorating their borders--between each bordered edge--miniaturized, gold-sculpted, dragons attached by their tails. In the middle of the frame--the royal bird seal of Kells, also duplicated on the headboard-- throwing down her red cape on the magenta/purple/red-quilted bed covering, sitting on its edge, arms folded still fuming.

Getting up pacing back and forth passing her reading table, hands gesturing angrily and talking to herself loudly,"Oh that's just great Father, put Ivar on your Chieftains Council. Let HIM make decisions for OUR warriors,he knows what's best for Kells' soldiers OVER ME? WHY? I'M A WARRIOR, BUT I'M STILL A GIRL, THAT'S IT, ISN'T IT! He's a foreigner... what does HE KNOW that I DON'T about my OWN land! ALL OF THEM, THEY JUST STICK TOGETHER, I saw the look when I said I would handle evaluating the shipbuilders!"

IVAR!! HOW DARE HE YELL AT ME LIKE THAT! "YOU CALL YOURSELF A SAILOR?"Deirdre seething, repeating his words."BARKING ORDERS TO ME..ME, THE PRINCESS OF KELLS! How could HE BE THE SAME PERSON, that I held and... ", remembering the grotto. "The other Ivar, was so caring...funny...passionate...Maeve's illusion! I fell for him, why couldn't he be...real? Oh what am I saying? He was an illusion, he never was...but Ivar and I...the grotto, that was real, wasn't it? Or was that too just an illusion? He was hurting, vulnerable and alone in a foreign land, I thought...he needed to be comforted, then..we made love..and now everything has changed. I sense him when he walks into the room, it's strange! I feel him across the table and now...he rails at me! He is soooo angry!" Talking through her teeth,"We can't even talk the way we used to, it's all because of Maeve! She's ruined everything...and ME HELPING HER! How can I blame him? What he must have felt about the other Ivar. The way I almost killed him over Maeve's enchantment. Then today...Ivar kept staring at me while we were sailing. He knew I learned how to sail from the other Ivar! But how? That's why he ranted at me, he's upset that I didn't learn it from him! I don't know how to make this right! Can it ever be made right? He is suppose to be MY DESTINY and me, his? Now he's going to be busy with the chieftains. When will we have time to straighten things out? This is exactly what Maeve wants, to have Ivar and I miserable at each other's throats so the unity and loyalty of the Mystic Knights will fall apart. We can't let this happen! Somehow we have to work this out!"

Walking slowly to her bed's end table where she keeps a dark-stained, wooden oval-shaped jewelry box--rubbing her hand over its surface--gold metal, triskellion-patterned engraved design in the center. Opening it, pulling out the thick gold-braided neckchain bearing Ivar's ring, she sighs slipping it off the chain and onto her finger, the dancing colors of the glowing stones, brighten her heart. "It's soooo beautiful and it's mine! But I cannot ever wear it publicly because all of Kells would want to know where I got it from, especially Father."Talking to the ring. "Oh Father! This is Ivar's betrothal ring! We are destined to be each other's love forever. He's my lover...we were together in the grotto! Oh yes! Father would be so understanding...he would first have to be picked up off the floor, then banish Ivar from here and then force me to marry Garret, no way! But I need to show Ivar I still have the ring and at least want to wear it. I know Kells wouldn't understand. Maybe Ivar doesn't understand too, maybe he doesn't want to be with me...not after what has happened...but it wasn't all my fault---MAEVE DID THIS! We have to talk about it. NO MATTER WHAT, WE MUST.... FOLLOW....OUR DESTINIES!"

The princess suddenly stops talking, sensing someone is spying on her..she slowly walks over to another table and sees two unusual 'butterfly'-sized wings sticking out among her flowers in a planter's box--"Hmm, must be none other than our nosy troublemaker--Aideen!"Thinking to herself, then inching her way closer to her, catching the fairy off-guard, grabbing her from behind, "Got you!"

"Oh Princess, let me go! I promise not to tell Ivar you're thinking about him and how sorry you are that you were tricked by Maeve! I know how sad you were to destroy the other Ivar, but he was just an illusion. Maybe I can help you and Ivar make up!"Aideen trying to appease the princess.

"Why would you help me? After all, you didn't let me near the Puzzle Box and you thought I was unworthy of Ivar, REMEMBER THAT?" The princess holding Aideen by the waist, looking down at her crossly.

Aideen looking apologetically says, "I know I was that way because of Rohan. I know now you can't help being you and I know what happened in the grotto was real for you. It was for Ivar as well. He is upset, unsettled a bit frightened, just look at his moodiness! He doesn't know how to handle it. His mind tells him that he is to help your father and Kells defeat Maeve, so he can retrieve his chalice. He thinks it would be best for all...if he stays away from you and that Kells could never accept him...but at night alone in his chamber..he feels all the unsettling emotions of everything you shared, not just what happened in the grotto. He tries to push it all away, but he can't... when he sees you he senses you too, and remembers. It is hard for him to express himself. He almost told Angus what happened between the two of you!"

With that comment, Deirdre released Aideen,"WHAT!!! NO! HE DIDN'T..HE WOULDN'T...HE WOULDN'T TELL ANGUS!!! OF ALL PEOPLE!"Deirdre beginning to worry about this surprise revelation and Aideen flying out of her reach continues, seeing Deirdre's expression of fear plays on it, with hands on her tiny hips gloating,"Oh yes..but he didn't finish the story because your father's guard showed up on the boat to get them for the meeting. So your secret is safe for now which Angus is so annoyed about it because now Ivar won't talk!" Aideen laughing."Angus tries to find out also about what was in the crystal Ivar experienced. But I didn't tell him!" Looking and smiling devilishly at the princess.

Princess Deirdre not understanding asks,"What crystal experience?" Deirdre cocking her head confused at Aideen, who then explains to her what took place that day after she left the others. Deirdre hearing Aideen's account, now bewildered because she now knows why Ivar is so upset. He saw and knows every- thing that she experienced with the other Ivar through the crystal."GREAT LUGH! HE KNOWS...EVERYTHING....I CAN'T MAKE THIS UP TO HIM. IT'S TOO LATE! WHAT AM I TO DO? THAT'S WHY HE STARED AND YELLED AT ME! HE'S SO HURT AND ANGRY, HE FEELS BETRAYED--IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE WITH HIM...INSTEAD...I was with Maeve's enchant- ment. He won't forgive me, will he?" Princess Deirdre sitting down on her bed again with her hand on her forehead, looking down to the floor.

P>Aideen flies over commenting, "You two have got to find some time alone together. Share your feelings with him, tell him honestly about what your destinies mean to both of you. Ask him if he even believes in destiny. Then you will know where you stand with him. You must do this before he leaves on your father's mission. The time away will make him think about all you've said to him. He hides from his true feelings, he wants to do the right thing by you, your father and Kells."

"How can you help, Aideen?"The princess skeptical but willing to accept any ideas at the moment.

"Well, I can talk to him because we shared the crystal experience. I will act as his conscience and sense his emotions. I will corner him so he will not be able to hide from his true self. We fairies can uncover what you humans don't want to face. He'll open up because he knows fairies can feel truth!" Aideen nodding, folding her arms with confidence and winking an eye.

Deirdre looking thoughtful, biting her bottom lip, "Alright Aideen...I can use any help I can get..maybe I might find out something to make amends. MAEVE CANNOT WIN! I WON'T LET HER WIN, NOT IF I CAN HELP IT! I know Ivar would not want Maeve to taste the satisfaction of victory over him again!"Deirdre slowly pounding her fist in the other hand trying to show confidence and a small hopeful smile.

Aideen then flying through her window, heads towards the Castle gate to devise a plan, when Cathbad alone with Ivar, catches her eye,"Ivar is asking Cathbad for counsel about the p rincess, I bet! Better follow them, I might learn something for her." Aideen flying quietly behind them undetected.

"Come in and close the door!" Cathbad closing the window shutter that peers down to the throne room for total privacy, turning back to Ivar sitting down near the table watching Cathbad go through his scrolls. "So many..I need to organize these in some fashion..Ah..here we are!"Handing it to Ivar to read, his eyes scanning it and slowly lifts them to Cathbad,"You think this is me and Deirdre?" Ivar's eyebrow arched with skepticism.

Cathbad nodding stating, "My Druid vision leads me to believe you are the one. I saw the falcon come out of the sky, out of an orange-golden glowing oval light--the falcon, a blue hood on its head lands on Deirdre's shoulder, the beak had a ring in it, Deirdre wears it and kissing the bird...it transforming to a blindfolded human male veiled in a blue haze. I saw you in the courtyard after Deirdre opened your Puzzle Box with a falcon head ring, you were giving the demonstration--you, blindfolded dressed in blue. You are the one!" Cathbad shaking his head nodding at Ivar.

Ivar astonished at Cathbad's vision exclaims, "SWEET LUGH!"

Cathbad continues,"You are both from royal households, Deirdre whose birth sign is that of Earth and you--the sky, your homeland has connections to Arinia, the major city of Lemuria and the other cities--Iblin, Okan, Tachron and Onyxis. The High Magic Users of Lemuria taught your ancestors psionic talents, we Druids learning from the same masters.

After land upheaval, their continent sank, the Lemurians knew of the impending doom handled migrations very quickly--Community leaders, psionicists and spiritual leaders set up Migration Operations Council to handle all the needs of the survivors. The High Magic Users and native Lemurians left Earthplane manifesting a new Lemuria in a higher dimensional plane than ours. Some who were immigrants to Lemuria decided to stay on Earth, went to other parts of the globe. The remaining native Lemurians who didn't want to settle into another dimension, stayed behind eventually dying off from illness.

They continue to teach Earthbound souls in their ways, the Sky Lords who taught the Lemurians were the star people of Lyra--the Lyrians serv- ing as supervisors and guardians for the human Lemurians, teaching them the awareness helping Humanity to reach the height of spiritual awareness to join with the sky people in unity. But power abuse took over, humans controlling each other and then lands, fighting each other, using the power given by the Star People, eventually all collapsed, due to internal strife and warfare. The Nation of Lemuria also known as MU, fell sinking underwater followed later, by its daughter empire, Atlantis.

The High Magic Users and officials of Lemuria, gathered along with the native-born Lemurians were taken to a centrally located pickup area and then transported to a higher realm where they exist now. but certain times of Earth's history, some of the Sky Lords have been seen, visiting our world and teaching your abilities, Ivar. As I watched you, I noticed in your teachings of Awareness, many similarities to the Lemurian High Magic Users. Your chalice is purported to be from star people isn't that why it is so sacred to your kingdom?" Cathbad cross-examining Ivar.

Ivar shocked and awed at Cathbad's knowledge, he nods adding,"Our chalice is not only a cup, but imbued with energy--an energy alignment door, creating a vortex that allows portal entry and exits to other dimensional realms."

Cathbad closing his eyes nodding sighing,"Why Maeve and Mider wanted it badly enough to steal it from your kingdom! I'm also afraid that Maeve wants you out of the way because you are a major threat to Temra, if you join with Deirdre. Dark force s will not be able to conquer Humanity. Maeve knows.... Ivar, about your abilities....I'm sure of it! She knows it could only have come from Lemurian Sky Lords. She also believes that you and Deirdre are the ones with a special destiny--Reunification of Sky and Earth! That's why she will go to any lengths to make sure you two never unite! The plan of the other Ivar almost succeeded...but THANK DAGDA!..Deirdre saw through the illusion, saving you! I know this is hard for you... Ivar, but even against my own loyalty to my king and to Kells, I have to do what I can to help fulfill this ancient prophecy. You've always fought on the side of Good, side by side with Deirdre--as Mystic Knights and your bonded love with Deirdre, will make the prophecy, a reality!"

Ivar puts his hand on his forehead, listening to Cathbad's words remarks, "I know...this is unbelievable! My Oracle in my homeland told me something along the same lines..that I was to go to a foreign land, there I was to find my destiny and my love. I fight side by side for good with her. My bravery and leadership would be needed there and I am to seek out the one who is of 'AIR', BUT WEARS THE HAIR OF FIRE! It's Deirdre, Cathbad..remember "Air Above Me" and Deirdre's hair shines like fire in the sunlight! GREAT LUGH!!!" Ivar remembering the shock of the day he remembered The Oracle prophecy.

Cathbad's face expresses shock,"DAGDA!!!"

Ivar looks up at Cathbad asking, "What am I going to do? Deirdre and I are barely speaking to one another, when we do...we are lashing out at each other. I cannot deal with this now...I have a great relationship with her father, who just appointed me into the Chieftains Advisory Council. We get along great and I don't want to jeopardize this friendship and I don't want to hurt Deirdre either, we are good friends and Mystic Knights." Ivar folding his arms standing firm in his position.

Cathbad interrupts commenting, "You and Deirdre are more than friends now, Ivar...what..about...the grotto?"Cathbad fixing Ivar with a long stare that penetrated Ivar's mask.

Ivar looks at him in silence, then down at the floor because there is no sense lying to the Druid who has second sight. Ivar moves uncomfortably, "Yes ..the grotto...Cathbad...things got out of hand, she kissed me and not just a peck on the cheek either..she kissed me you know...I was in such a state...we became..it shouldn't have happened, but it did. We became lovers, that's why I'm so angry, how could she betray me this way? I know, I know...he was an illusion but MY LUGH! SHE COULDN'T TELL THE DIFFERENCE?" I think she wants HIM, not ME and I cannot BE him!" Ivar showing his tremendous annoyance.

"And what about you Ivar? Could you tell the difference when Maeve sent that false messenger from your homeland, summoning you home? Very real to all of we Kells including me!" Cathbad gazing at him with his thick, bushy, arched eyebrows.

Ivar remembering and Maeve's name makes his hand form a fist he states, "MAEVE, SHE DID ALL OF THIS!!!"

"Precisely Ivar, and now..you...know why! She is certain about you, just like I am. For her, Kells gets you as a powerful ally as Deirdre's husband. The Lemurian Sky Lords would not let her intervene in your lives, threatening her plans to conquer Kells. As I told the others, this might have been a test for the two of you, which both of you have passed, if Deirdre had killed you Maeve would have been victorious! But you won...a blow against the Dark Forces. Don't think this is over Ivar. You and Deirdre have a long journey and battles ahead of you. But you must win! You start the process of reunification of Earth and Sky People. You and Deirdre will find a way to make this happen, I know you are overwhelmed and intimidated due to different racial backgrounds, but you must overcome this and work out your future, together. It must be, it is both your destinies!"Cathbad looking at Ivar with serious warning, shaking his bony finger at him.

Ivar looks down at the table, repeating the word, "DESTINY", still feeling totally uncertain now what that means to him. He doesn't feel right about it and he feels that in order to be a destiny, he has to feel it fully. So many obstacles for him and for the princess--big obstacles to overcome. He says ambivalently to Cathbad,"I'll try to think this through but there are no guarantees!"

Cathbad walking to his table saying squarely to him, "LIFE NEVER PROVIDES GUARANTEES, IVAR!"

He looks at Cathbad, twisting his mouth, "DESTINY, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND YOU AT ALL!"Cathbad gazes back half-laughing which then Ivar shakes his head side -to-side laughing too, at the absurdity of his situation and nearby...a fairy quietly giggles, Aideen hidden behind a shelf eavesdropping then hurriedly leaves undetected.

"AIDEEN!" Rohan spies her flying outside in the courtyard, she turns and immediately comes over to him and Angus saying,"Hi Rohan, Angus! What are you two doing? I just saw Ivar inside alone with Cathbad, a serious meeting, I bet!" She knowing the truth and trying to captivate Angus' curiosity.

Angus shoves Rohan with brotherly affection remarks,"See... what did I tell you...Ivar would ask Cathbad for help with Deirdre! He just can't handle this alone, he knows things are falling apart with Deirdre and it could ruin the Mystic Knights and his plans with her father. Maybe he does this field thing to show the king his loyalty to Kells and do anything for him, making way to get the king to consider him in Deirdre's future despite race and foreign ways. After all, their destinies now hang in the balance...ready to tip over!"Angus chuckling to Aideen.

Aideen looks at Angus with narrowing eyes comments, "It isn't funny, Angus! Deirdre is so upset about how she hurt Ivar because of Maeve and now she knows that Ivar saw and experienced the crystal. She was beside herself! She wants to do everything to make it up to him." The fairy nodding to Rohan.

Angus' eyes grow wider,"She knows about the crystal? Okay Aideen, now how about telling me what was in it!" His curiosity taking over him.

Aideen thinks for a moment saying, "I'll think about it Angus, if you tell me something about humans." Aideen cocking her head at him.

Rohan seeing her seriousness asking,"What is it, Aideen?"

Aideen explains some of the things she overheard and this thing about how the king and Kells couldn't possibly accept Ivar as the princess' future husband. "But Rohan, Ivar is human, is he not? He is royalty and has everything all the other suitors have to be worthy of the princess and more. It is just his race that stands between them being together and their destinies? I don't understand. Ivar has stayed with Kells to repay his debt--he's honorable, very rich, loyal and handsome. The king likes him very much so why is his race the obstacle to their futures?"

Rohan and Angus both look down to the ground and Rohan takes a deep breath, then looks up to the fairy commenting, "It's just the way that it is Aideen. Kells stick with our own kind, and mixing races would change our uniqueness as a group of people. Royalty especially have certain rules about bloodlines-- purity a must, because they are appointed by Dagda--divine power. We just can't understand how Deirdre opened his Puzzle Box if this isn't Dagda's will! But GREAT LUGH! They are of different races and yet...somehow something happened between them, we don't know what...in the grotto. Ivar was about to tell Angus but they got interrupted. You know something from the crystal Aideen, a very big secret...I'm not asking you to tell me..."Angus jumps in demanding,"WELL, I'M ASKING AIDEEN! TELL US! WHAT... DID...DEIRDRE DO TO IVAR?"

Aideen kno ws that Rohan and Angus care about Ivar and the princess but she knows that Angus cannot keep secrets. She looks at them both saying,"I'll have to think about it, it is against the laws of TIR NA NOG and fairies to ever reveal what a crystal knows except to the parties involved. I don't understand humans! I don't understand why mixing races is bad. I am a fairy, but I can mate and marry a Spriggan, Red Cap, Wood Elf, Bogie, Gnome, anyone I like..even, human!" Looking longingly at Rohan, Angus breaking out in a big grin and half-laughing at Rohan, turning away holding Rohan's shoulder, so Aideen can't see his face laughing, and Rohan looking down momentarily saying nothing.

"I'm off now..to Tir Na Nog, I need to speak with King Fin Varra, I need his counsel. If this is allowed I will tell you what you wish Angus, Goodbye Rohan!"Aideen flying away.

Angus grits his teeth and remarks, "Fairies, they never do...what I want them to! Aideen, won't tell us without getting permission? Don't they have something like gossip?" Angus frustrated and annoyed looking at Rohan.

Rohan smiles, "I'm sure they do gossip but about us and I'm sure they laugh at us too. We are such amusing creatures to them. I wonder what King Fin Varra will say about Deirdre and Ivar's futures. I would like to be in Tir Na Nog just to hear what they really think of we humans. Aideen really was shocked about our not mixing races."

Angus busts out laughing and remarks, "Yea Rohan, you and Aideen...going down the aisle together..now that will be a sight to behold!" Both Rohan and Angus laughing loudly, falling over, as they enter the castle entrance and Rohan brotherly punching Angus. They meet up with Deirdre heading for Cathbad's chamber. Upon arriving they see Ivar, who then tries to camouflage his meeting with Cathbad with,"Oh Cathbad, they are here now perfect timing, just as we are discussing telekinetic and remote-viewing training for the Mystic Knights."

Cathbad picking up the ruse commenting,"Oh yes, Ivar, show me again your ability to shut the door and window shutter, simultaneously", which Ivar focus- ing hard on both, lifts his hands up pointing towards the door, his hands brought down quickly together, the door and window slam shut.

Cathbad smiles broadly with approval saying,"Excellent! Now what of you three, care to try?"He looking from one knight to the other.

Angus steps forward smirking, remarks,"Oh what, are we going to slam the door on the Temran soldiers? This is how we are to defend ourselves?" He gestures with his shoulders shaking up and down with laughter,"Okay Ivar!" Giving the door and window the evil eye, he commands,"Shut!" But neither budged. Angus trying it again, waving his hands around in circles, while Princess Deirdre and Rohan smile at each other ready to laugh. Again nothing happens.

Just then, a guard pokes his head in and tells Cathbad to step outside in the courtyard for a moment to verify acceptance of a delivery at one of the gates. Cathbad looks over at Angus remarks, "Oh Angus...you are so good at this! Now don't let the door hit me on the way out! Ah! Ha! Ha!"Cathbad laughing as he leaves the quarters.

Angus shakes his fist and grimaces at him, which makes all the others laugh out loud. Then Ivar reminds him,"Remember how you wished for help against the sentinels? Focus your mind like that."

Hearing an approaching Cathbad returning, they hear him mutter, "That Angus, I told you he can't do anything right! This is the wrong delivery! Cathbad bellowing, "ANGUS I TOLD YOU...." SLAM!! The door slams in Cathbad's face, knocking him and his package on the floor outside the door, Cathbad yelling,"ANGUS!!!!"

Inside Angus doing a victory dance,"I did it! I...really..did it! He beams a bright smile, jumping up and down in a circle,"Showed that Old Druid, didn't I!...Oops! H e stops realizing that Cathbad is really going to be angry.

Rohan runs to the door, opening it quickly to see Cathbad stumbling to his feet with a scowl on his face, storming in and Angus quickly leans against the table, looking up and around avoiding Cathbad's stare, trying to contain his laughter while Deirdre, Ivar and Rohan try to hide theirs.

Cathbad walks by Angus, shaking his long, index finger at him,"I'm warning you...Angus..I'll have no more of your cheap tricks while you're in here, do you understand?" Cathbad glaring intensely.

Angus points to himself, "Me? Uh..I wouldn't do this on purpose..would I? Just then suddenly, scrolls start to roll off the shelf by themselves, cascading down hitting Cathbad in the head as they fell, and looking at Angus, who then remarks laughing,"OOPS! DON'T KNOW MY OWN POWERS!" Busting out laughing, with the others now heading for the door.

"MY LUGH! OUT! OUT! ALL OF YOU!!!"Cathbad bellows annoyed muttering to himself, picking up the fallen scrolls.

Once outside, the four Mystic Knights, falling and stumbling over each other break out laughing, hysterically. Angus imitating Cathbad being hit on the head by the scrolls remarks, "BULLEYE!" Angus raising his fist laughing.

Ivar chuckles and warns, "We better stay away from his chambers for awhile, he's liable to turn you, Angus, into a toad and use you in one of his potions!" Joking with him."Let's find another power to tap into that won't get us into so much trouble!"

Taking refuge away from the afternoon's blazing sun, they stop at a shaded spot along the castle wall, Ivar explains about remote-viewing--a technique used to locate people, objects, places or events by just using the mind. He stops an individual, a young male and asks for a favor, whispering something in his ear and showing him a gold piece. The youth eyeing the coin, enthusi- astically agrees. Ivar tells the others, "Okay, we will wait a few minutes and then try to perform the test, find him with your minds, giving me as much details surrounding his whereabouts--using your other senses as well ." Ivar prepping them.

Angus goes first commenting, "I hear water running ....and leaves rustling ...um... see a long rectangle or long piece of wood --plank, big round circles near it." His eyes opening, "How did I do?"

Ivar nodding stating, "Very possible, Angus! Now your turn..Rohan!"

Rohan closes his eyes and says, "Hmm..I feel warmth, crackling sound like wood-burning, I smell...smoke! Clanging metal--hammering and grey column--tower, 2 brown domes, feeling a bit shaky motion, not steady....that's what...I sense Ivar." Opening his eyes at Ivar questioningly, who then nods with approval remarks "Good Rohan, visual and color too, very good. Okaaay Deirdre, what can you pick up?"

The princess takes a deep breath, closing her eyes and pauses..."I think.. I see two rows of triangles, facing one another, um...grey wiggly lines moving --maybe a stream? I smell flowers! Lavendar? Um.. I see a moving circle with straight lines coming down to each side of it and a small square attached to it!" Deirdre opening her eyes with brows arched questioning, her mouth twisted to one side.

Ivar looking at her with a steady gaze comments,"Interesting Deirdre...you are more into shapes than color or sounds, you did pick up the sense of smell, you thought of fragrance of flowers."

He made a mental note of all the descriptions from each of them, "Not bad, not bad at all, can any of you take a wild guess where this place is? ..No? Okay then, let's go and see it! We'll see how well you did." Ivar and the others leave the castle gate, heading for one of the nearby villages. As they approached it, they notice a grey cylindrical stone structure-an oven--crackling firewood burning, people placing sticks in it, nearby--a blacksmith hammeri ng metal, thick smoke coming out surrounding them as they walk by, two brown dome -shaped , thatched-roofed huts, at the end of the road. They stopped and shouted,"Water!" Heading down a hill , running towards the sound. When they arrived Angus, Rohan and Deirdre point out the things they saw in their minds --wooden plank, swinging bridge--long rectangular shape, then a moving wheel- shape structure with two ropes--a pulley with a pail hanging from it, the ropes on the bridge formed rows of triangles and there was the youth..sitting on the side of the bridge on a group of huge stones beside it, in a flower bed of wild lavendar, he looking up waving at the approaching Mystic Knights.

To their surprise, each of them have demonstrated their own level of accuracy in identifying the location describing shapes, sound, color and smell. Ivar impressed states,"See? With a little practice, we'll be able to find each other, anyplace and anytime , an important mind tool for Mystic Knights to have. In my homeland, we use it in emergencies to find lost people during natural disasters and for locating dangerous situations."

In Tir na Nog, the Little People are enjoying themselves--feasting and dancing while King Fin Varra's fingers conduct in the air in time with the music, as Aideen flies in. She sits next to his throne, not ever interrupting the fairy king when he is in the state of bliss--all going well in Tir na Nog--plenty of gold and reverie all around.

The fairy king glances over to Aideen's troubling face and stops his conduct- ing stating,"You've been with the humans again, haven't you? Ev..ery time you arrive here from visiting the Mystic Knights, you come here glum and troubled. WHAT...is it..NOW..AIDEEN?"

Aideen looking up to him eyebrows knitted in confusion comments,"King Fin Varra, I have learned some startling and bizarre things about humans. It has to do with Princess Deirdre and Prince Ivar. They have their destinies to fulfill together but they cannot, due to humans in general are not permitted to mate or marry someone not of their same race. Princess Deirdre by some strange Fate ended up opening a puzzle box which held Prince Ivar's Ring of Destined Union and now there is much trouble in Kells. Her father does not know...only the Mystic Knights, Cathbad and me. The others do not know about what is going on emotion- ally between the Princess and the Prince, except for Cathbad and me. There is so much happening and Maeve tried to kill Prince Ivar by creating illusions of him and..."Aideen trying to explain it all.

King Fin Varra interrupting her, "Let's see Aideen!"He waving his magic staff over the reflection pool as the other Little People gather to watch all the events unfold--the Puzzle Box, Ivar-Rohan- Deirdre-Angus-Aideen and Cathbad, the ring on Princess Deidre's finger after the box opened, which the Little People and Fin Varra oohed and aahed, then they saw Ivar's tragedy--pain, Deirdre and Ivar in the grotto, Maeve's scheme, the conjured Ivar and then the Mystic Knights victory over Maeve, Ivar's Oracle prediction, the crystal and then Deirdre and Ivar's future together, jeopardized.

"OH MY! OH MY!"King Fin Varra, jumping down off his throne, pacing the floor "This is very serious indeed! They must not fail, this could affect all of us! Maeve and Mider caanot be allowed to interfere with this. The Lemurian Sky Lords have chosen the Princess and Prince, I'm sure of it! This is what his homeland's Oracle has spoken to him about. This is the true reason why he is in the land of Kells. The chalice stolen by Maeve and Tork, brought Prince Ivar to this island to Kells and to meet with Princess Deirdre--their destinies intertwined fighting side by side for Good as Mystic Knights then become lovers to begin the reuni- fication of Earth and Sky Peoples.

Aideen worried asks,"What of their futures, My King?"

The king sees in the reflection pool--"Many dangers lie ahead due to one of them jumping the path of destiny out of fear--race issue obstacles--cloudy judgement--deception by illusion of love--Maeve's creature and Ivar's past comes back to haunt his life, the illusion of love deceiving one of them and only the heart of true love can save the other. Remember only mirrors can shatter illusions but only the heart can shatter the mirrors! They must complete thier missions. There is much for Earth to prepare for, the humans must be made readied!"

Aideen puzzling, "But how can this happen, Your Majesty, if the princess and Ivar are now at odds because of Maeve's other Ivar and the fear of exposure that they really are lovers of different race? Also, Rohan and Angus wanted me to reveal what was in the crystal. I told them that I was to ask you whether they should be told what Ivar experienced so they can help the prince and princess complete their destinies. Rohan and Angus informed me about purity of bloodlines--mixed races not permitted in royal families of humans because they are divined by Dagda. They said this is how it is and Kells mate and marry this way and this is why Rohan cannot understand how Dagda could allow Princess to open the prince's puzzle box and claim his betrothal ring."

The king shaking his head, slapping his forehead remarks,"This is such nonsense, Aideen! Yes humans still in their primitive state of evolution. They even do not know...they are a subspecies Aideen...and that they themselves are of mixed races from many star peoples. This is why there is the need for this Earth and Sky reunion, so humans learn not only their true identity but also to know their true ancestry! We were here long before the humans came, sprites and elvens evolved first. There were many creatures and humans brought together by star people--some changed with time--evolving to fit their new homes. Others went to other star systems and planets. All... are... human, but there are many kinds. Humanity is a classification...NOT A SPECIES. The Lemurians-- humans, brought by Paronians were experimented on here, then the star people of Lyra acted as supervisors to teach guardianship, energy magick skills and knowledge of other realms. Lemurians--third root human race, the most advanced humans there were on Earth, they became Lemurian Sky Lords when they left Earth, to establish the new Lemuria, in another space/time higher than this one.

All humans are mixed. Why there was even a hybridized human that was of Elven descent, yes..Elven-halfling. He came to Earthplane to see if they could bond again in Earthplane, because the Earth energies changed and the elves could no longer stay at this low energy density. He was born into a Earth human family that did not know of his true species, Elven. He served as ambassador for his homeworld--Cerna. He learned the ways of humans--family, going to school and human friendships,as well as keeping up with his homeworld studies--sentience, telepathy, energy manifestaton skills and cultural heritage.

He lived among humans and taught certain humans about his Cerna, to those he trusted and would keep his secret. He has been able to make friends among the fairies, dryads, and gnomes as well. They would protect him while he was here. He was of mixed race...and..human. So all of this nonsense Aideen, that humans cannot crossbreed in different races or species. You tell Rohan and Angus this story, they need to know this BUT..BE..FOREWARNED Aideen, they will have a hard time dealing with truth. The Princess and Ivar must be permitted to join together, they too must be told this story. Better yet, you will bring them both to me. Cathbad Druid told him but they must hear all from me. As for Rohan and Angus learning what was in the crystal, NO! This is only for the ones who are involved. They cannot help in this other than to keep the secret from King Conchobar and others. The support against Maeve as Mystic Knights will be needed. Crystals are sacred, humans do not know the value of them at all. We have a sacred oath to crystals. NO! NO!! NO!!!

Princess Deirdre and Prince Ivar mated in the grotto, this is important. They will both inherit the special gifts of the Lemurian Sky Lords. The reunion will take place soon, nothing must stop this! Aideen, you will keep watch over both princess and prince to make sure they are protected. Much will be happening soon. We all must prepare. So much to do!" King Fin Varra leaves the throne- room and Aideen flies off to Conchobar's Castle. Nearby a bogie observes and listened to all, then heads to Temra.

And in Temra..."Yes, you have done well!" Maeve seeing and hearing of the bogie's report. "Tork, this is truly troublesome news! I suspected as much of Prince Ivar and the Princess. The ring...I MUST HAVE IT! Powerful source..in the right hands of sorcery, those stones could provide me with the power of the Gods! The ring in my possession will also prevent Prince Ivar and the Princess from joining. They cannot do the ritual of reunification without it!"

Tork reports, "My Queen..Findar's brother has found out that Ivar has left the homeland, and he seeks vengeance on the prince. He will aid us in deceiving the prince and Kells, sabotaging the Kells' ships. All we need to find a way to infiltrate Kells'contact with shipbuilders, and place a spy inside. Also he has a way to trap the Prince,he didn't say how but all he said was that he knows Ivar's taste, leading a bird right to the cat's mouth!"Tork smiling conspiratorily and laughing with Maeve.

Ivar deciding to work closely with Conchobar, realizes he better do some serious fence-mending with his daughter. Ivar gets a merchant in a village to create a large bouquet of roses in colorful, cloth-covered basket. In it a small gift, a gold cloak pin--circular, ruby stone in the center with a sword running through the center as clasp, along with a note of apology for his tirade and that he would be willing to talk to her about things--to come meet with him in their other place--The Royal Family Painter's Studio. The painter away from the island for a few months, gave Ivar a place of refuge for quiet and solitude.

And in another part of Conchobars'Castle...Cathbad's quarters--cluttered with bottles, jars and unfinished potions.. is where Deirdre feels most at home. She sitting and marvels at Cathbad's magickal skills commenting, "All I need is a magic spell to make my life better.Right now it is in total shambles!" The princess resting her head on her hands, on top of the table.

"He's been absolutely horrid to me in the worst moods I've seen him in. He yells at me and barks at Kell's soldiers! It is all because of me and the other Ivar, OH LUGH! Cathbad he knows everything about what happened between me and Maeve's enchantment. He experienced all of it through Aideen and a crystal. He must think that it is him, the other Ivar I want, not him. He thinks I betrayed him but I didn't! I thought...it..was...HIM. I don't know Ivar well that's why Maeve could do this. I was such a fool and feel so terrible , I want to make things up to him, but how can I? He is suppose to be my destiny and we can't even talk!" Deirdre handing Cathbad his bowl of magic powders.

"Give Ivar time, he too is distressed about things between the two of you He felt betrayed yes but I reminded him how he was also tricked by Maeve with that false messenger for him to go home, remember that Deirdre?" Cathbad quiz- zing her, the princess nodding yes.

There are other forces at work here Deirdre, about your destiny with Ivar that need to be addressed. There are things that you need to know that you and Ivar are chosen as Mystic Knights and two royals that will be involved in a special mission. I know about the grotto Deirdre. Cathbad giving the princess a hard gaze." I tried to warn you Deirdre not to go and search for Ivar while he was so vulnerable. I sensed you had strong feelings about him but you flew out of here before you could hear my warning."

Deirdre froze on this revelation, then overwhelmed with fear,"Please don't tell Father or anyone. I know it shouldn't have happened but I wanted to com- fort him and I guess the feelings of the moment were stronger than I ever could have imagined. We didn't stop each other because I thought it was real, but now... I'm not so sure, we can't even TALK about it or the ring."

"Yes the ring--an important element that I saw in my vision." He explains to her the vision prior to the Puzzle Box coming to her and Ivar's Oracle, Deirdre so shocked remarks,"MY LUGH! Why didn't you tell me all this before Cathbad?" Cathbad wondered himself why he didn't reveal it. "I believe I may have been stopped from telling you, about it. I don't know. But despite my personal reservations about you with Ivar and loyalty to your father, as a Druid I must help you and Ivar make this mission a success."

Just then, Aideen flies into the room stating," Princess you and Ivar are to go to TIR na NOG tomorrow and meet with King Fin Varra and you are to bring your Ring of Destined Union with you!"

Cathbad and the princess looked at each other stunned and a bit alarmed that the Fairy king wants her to bring the ring, "Can you explain this Aideen?" Cathbad walking over to the hovering fairy. Aideen looking down to the Druid saying,"Only that Deirdre and Ivar must complete their mission successfully their destinies and the ring plays an important part of it all, which will be explained when you go there. You are to be protected by the other Mystic Knights only as far as the Fairy Ring, then only Deirdre and Ivar will be permitted to enter. He will be sending special sentinels to maintain vigilance over the princess and prince all night so that no powerful forces of darkness can come and steal away the ring. Under...no..circumstance do you take the ring off of you Princess. Maeve and the others will try. Nothing will be safe until you are in TIR Na NOG. You and Ivar must try to stay in close quarters even together if possible, stay alert to everything. Summon your armor, close all windows and doors,do not let in anyone except for Cathbad. Cathbad be sure you have a mind deflection shield so no one can get to you. Once you are inside your room which Cathbad will place a protection spell--Stay there! Not even if fire breaks out, you are protected! Forces of Darkness will use illusion and deception to to get you to leave the room, do not! Make sure it is Cathbad they can conjure, remember the other Ivar? These are King Fin Varra's instructions. We know humans have a hard time following directions but if you don't we will have trouble, like we have never seen! Do you understand Cathbad, Princess?" Aideen giving them both a serious look of warning.

They knew that both had to abide by these instructions to the letter,Cathbad agreeing saying,"I will tell the Prince at once." He leaving in search of Ivar, while the princess stays behind. She curious about what else King Fin Varra knew, she asks the fairy, and Aideen tells her that all that has happened and what's to come has been shown through the reflection pool. This is why the two of them are summoned to go to TIR na NOG and must take heed to all warnings."

"By the way I overheard Ivar' s thoughts earlier, he does want to make up with you. In fact.."Aideen smiles coyly and singing,"There's a surprise for you.. in your chamber. I think you...'ll like it!" Giggling and flying around the room.

Upon hearing a surprise awaits her, Deirdre bolts from the chamber, and runs up the castle hallway, colliding with her father laughing and turning his head "Whoa Deirdre, where's the fire?" She not stopping making a bee-line to her chamber. She opens her door and there on her table is a cobalt-blue/gold ribboned-wrapped basket with roses, the gift and a note attached. She quickly reads the note of apology and bends down, seeing the gift. Smiling broadly examining the cloak brooch, she places it next to her cape pin. Smelling her roses, she takes one rubbing her cheek--feeling its soft, velvety petals and then takes the note, so that no one will find out who they came from. She runs in the opposite direction passing her father again who calls out,"You are a whirlwind today what has gotten into her?" Bending his head back laughing. She makes a momentary stop back in Cathbad's chamber to leave a note for him about her whereabouts.

Aideen has a strong feeling that something is about to happen to the ring so she decides to manifest an exact duplicate, appearing and switches the original for safekeeping. "If any entity comes it will be looking for a concealed ring and the jewelry box would be targeted first, then Deirdre." The fairy strateg- izing

Tork waits outside Queen Maeve's throne room nearby the golden celtic-knot- work-designed, sculpted lion head, while inside Maeve practices lighting a row of candles from a distance. Her magical feat completed, he walks in,"My Queen, news of Kells, Prince Ivar has been appointed to King Conchobar's Chieftain Advisory Council!"

Maeve twirls around off-guard,"What? Ivar? That meddlesome prince who dared to talk to me with such condescension! Part of the Chieftain's Advisory Council, which means he will be participating in decision-making for Kells' shipping operation." Maeve tapping her ram-head scepter in her palms,"Tork he will be watching over and perhaps scrutinizing the shipbuilder, though he's being paid handsomely for it, we have to make sure Ivar doesn't find out about our plans. Must distract him some way or at least keep him busy away from our operation. What news of the Princess? Is she still avoiding him at least?" Maeve raising her eyebrow at Tork.

Tork relishing his position as righthand man to the queen, "It is just like I have said My Queen...Princess and Ivar have been at odds. Battle broke out on their supply ship and she is extremely annoyed with her father's appointment of Ivar to the king's own council."

Maeve smiles darkly remarks,"Excellent...time to go into action..and get the Prince out of my hair, once and for all!"

Deirdre approaches the remote art studio, close to the western wing of the castle. Hardly anyone goes through it--dusty, cobwebbed storage rooms, old musty furniture, paintings, chests and tapestries--no longer in use. Deirdre use to play there as a child hiding out or rummaging through old clothes and things to use in her imaginary games. Game-playing, she decides to play one with Ivar after spying on him inside, looking through some of the painter's works of the royal family and ancestors. Hiding next to the window, peeking in with side glances, to see if he could 'sense' her, "Let's see Ivar, if Aideen is right. If you have feelings for me you'll find me!" Quietly moving towards the door using the silent walk, Ivar looks up momentarily and smiles, "Well..you're here!Silently to himself, heading to the door, he opens it..and finds no one."Hmm, I sensed movement." Just then he grins, "Okay, that's how you want to play it."Sensing the energy behind him now, the rear door, where Deirdre waits laughing quietly, then quickly running along the outer walls of of the studio. Inside, Ivar senses the change in every direction, he stops sticks out his hands and gets a mental picture of her at the western wall. He heads towards it and then stopping decides,"I'll beat her at her own game!" Ivar silently goes to the rear window, opening it without a sound then slipping out sliding himself against the wall to peek around the corner, but she wasn't there He scratches his head realizing, she anticipated his move and found the other window ' window opened, she slipping in. Ivar laughs to himself,"You Minx!" Heading around to the front door entering and still Deirdre is not there. But his senses tell him she's there somewhere. "Perhaps she's hiding in the bedroom." Using his silent walk he opens the door quietly, standing with his back to the front room.

All of a sudden, a black canvas cloth drops quickly over Ivar covering his head and chest, then a rope is tied around his chest, yanked hard with his hands tied within a noose. Deirdre loudly giggles, "Didn't see this coming!"Shoving him on the bed with her boot, pouncing on it tickling him mercilessly--his legs flailing trying to fend off her attacks. Deirdre triumphantly,"Well Ivar rigging is pretty tight now, rough seas ahead!" As she bounces up and down on the bed and then announces,"Storm approaches, batten down the hatches!"She then pours water on him and whacking him with the pillows several time laughing hysterically.

Ivar laughingly screams out, "STOP, YOU'RE MAD! LET ME GO! OH YOU ARE REALLY GOING TO GET IT WHEN I GET OUT OF THIS!" Ivar's body struggles like a coiled snake finally getting one hand free it.

Deirdre jumps off the bed, running into the front room, flinging the front door loudly leaving it wide open, then hides inside a corner near the door, underneath the heavy cloth used to cover paintings. Hearing Ivar throw the rope onto the floor, she remains quiet.

Ivar jumps into the frontroom, seeing the front door open he chuckles to himself "I'm not falling for that one Deirdre!" Once again he scans the energy and knows exactly where she is. He has to get this right the first time without alerting her. Ivar talking aloud to himself,"She's heading for the back again, so I'll wait at the front when she doubles back!" He spies a full reserved water can, then humming, inching his way towards Deirdre and the door..closer and closer.."Okay Deirdre, you should be coming through the door any moment!" Catching her offguard, lifting the water can over his head, then quick as a flash lifts the material Deirdre was hiding under, drenching her completely,"Ivar screams,"TIDAL WAVE!!SAILOR OVERBOARD!!...YES!!!..GOT YOU MINX!!!" Picking her up, her hair and clothes soaked, both shrieking with laughter and hugging.

Aideen's wings beat wildly, fluttering trying to keep her altitude, watching human creature social display between Ivar and Deirdre,"Such strange courtship rituals between humans,"I must find out from Rohan how they come to be. One thing is certain they are laughing, so they are not angry with each other anymore."She flying away from the window.

In the Throne Room of King Conchobar, a chieftain escorts an attractively- dressed young woman--red,purple gown, waist long blond hair perfectly adorned with multi-colored ribbons. "My King, I would like you to meet FREYA, she is the daughter of one of our shipbuilders. She is here to offer assistance to Princess Deirdre regarding building specifications and help in progress assess- ment. The woman giving the king a royal curtsy and a beautiful smile. She introduces herself coming from a homeland recognized by the king, as one of the places Ivar had talked to him about,"Oh you must meet Prince Ivar..he has travel- led to your homeland, please do us the honor of joining us for our dinner gather- ing. He would like to meet someone as lovely as you. You and he can also discuss necessities for our royal fleet s ince he too, is an accomplished sailor," the king smiling and winking at Cathbad.

Cathbad smiles with reservation, his Druid senses pick up something, but nothing firm. He knows the king wants to help heal the prince thinking a beautiful woman will cure his ills. Cathbad has much on his mind concerning King Fin Varra's warnings and precautions--the royal destinies of both the princess and prince hanging in the balance. How will this woman play a part in Ivar's destiny.

The young woman agrees to the king's invitation, curtsying to both of them "Thank you, I will be honored to attend Your Majesty."

Rohan and Angus on their village's bridge, calls out,"Aideen, where have you been?"

The fairy smiles brightly, flying right to his cheek,"Miss me? I went to see King Fin Varra and discussed Ivar and Deirdre along with your request about the crystal. I'm sorry that is against the law of TIR na NOG. A crystal to you humans is just a rock but to us..it is a living, sentient being with its own consciousness that gathers information to heal and teach the Little People of TIR Na NOG cosmic laws of the Universe. We made a solemn oath that all contact with crystals are sacred and only those who are adept to have contact will be allowed, if they wish it."

"So...we're not good enough, eh!"Angus showing indignation. "Well that's just fine with me! I have other ways of finding out what I need to know, so tell your Little Crystals who needs, 'em anyway, I don't want to talk to them either!" Angus dismissing them with his hands.

Rohan's curiosity about King Fin Varra's comments regarding Princess Deirdre and Prince Ivar's destinies together,"What of Deirdre and Ivar, that Puzzle Box, did he say anything important Aideen?"

Aideen's eyes widened with bewilderment,"Oh yes,Rohan! This whole thing with the princess and prince is very important, bigger than anyone could imagine! King Fin Varra says that they have to sucessfully complete their destinies, it affects all, even TIR na NOG. He wants me to tell you two a story which will be told to the two of them tomorrow. You two will only be allowed as far as the Fairy Ring to protect them! Only they will be allowed to enter TIR na NOG for the meeting, I'm sorry Rohan, Angus. This is truly an unusual meeting.

Angus eyes grow wide,"What? Now we can't be in TIR na NOG? Well, that's just great!", Putting his hands on his hips miffed.

"No one outside, the king, Deirdre and Ivar will be allowed even in his Throne Room, so this is very important. Fin Varra said that Maeve, Mider and other beings from the dark realm will do anything to get Ivar's ring because it plays a role in the ancient prophecy ritual, which they will try to stop and that is why you as Mystic Knights must protect them. Tonight after all are asleep at your castle, Fin Varra will be sending the Princess and Prince, sentinels to stand guard over them all night. Deirdre and Ivar are to be in their mystic armor all night."Aideen expressing the severity of the dangers.

Angus remarks,"Oh that will be great to sleep in...maybe keep Ivar from snoring like a donkey!"

Aideen continues,"The ring must stay with the Princess at all times. They will be taking it to TIR na NOG tomorrow! All of this will become clear when you hear the story." Aideen proceeds to tell them.

The princess and prince returns to the main hall of the Castle, when the king gazes upon her,"MY DAGDA! DAUGHTER DID YOU FALL INTO THE WATER AND IVAR, YOU'RE WET TOO? WHAT HAPPENED YOU TWO LOOK LIKE YOU JUST SWAM ASHORE?"Conchobar alarmed by both of their appearances.

Ivar trying to maintain royal dignity though looking like a drowned rat, "Your Majesty....your daughter thought it would be great fun to illustrate her boating skills in the art studio!" Ivar sheepishly grinning at her with side glances.

Deirdre busts out with an explosion of giggles, relates what she did to Ivar, making the king laugh out loud as well, looking over at Ivar who tries to keep a straight face, but surrenders to the laughter filling the room of onlookers. The king then ushers them to go and change to prepare for dinner and informs them that they will be having a special guest,"Oh Ivar, there's going to be a surprise for you, I think you will like!"Winking at him, which Ivar looks back intrigued.
